matthz01
Hi, I am hoping for a little help. Yeasterday I edited .exe trying to make a mod and it worked. The game started fine and I got an increase health from the armor, nano-fibre armour and having two small item slots. Today I play the game without any changes and the armour and armour upgrades no longer give additional health and have lost their bonus item slot. However all the other changes still take place like changes to alien stats and the like. To test it I started a new game after restoring my old exe and changed some values to the extreme and everything worked like 100000 credits, huge monthly pay, super sectoids and strong soldiers but for some reason none of the armour changes would work at all and still stayed the same as origional. I don't want to make a super hacked game or anything, I just love the idea of two item slots and a few personal tweaks to make a more personal game experiance. Anyone else had a similer problem and know of a soloution? I just don't understand why the equipment changes are not reflected in game. Thanks for any help or advise. tbkiah
They changed the way the INI is read... now there is one in your documants/mygames/xcomenemyunknown/logs/EMS.. It clears your amor weapons and character arrays. and it is overwritten every time you start the game while steam is in online mode. matthz01
Thank you for the fast reply. Do you know if there is anyway to avoid this or do you know what files I have to delete in my documents folder and what settings I must disable in steam? I guess they made these changes to prevent online cheating... but I just want to kill aliens :P
tbkiah
If you start steam in offline mode i heard that allows you to keep your mods.. but i might be wrong... you might have to go in to that file and erase all the text it in first though... you could try that. Daemonjax
I tried replacing the one in the ems directory with the modpatcher version, and set it to read only... didn't help. ;) Offline seems to be the way to go. Not a big deal to me, personally.
