BanjoOz Posted October 25, 2012 Share Posted October 25, 2012 Just a quick question for those who've been doing some amazing modding work on the game so far: I'm pretty sure I saw in one or two topics that this wasn't (yet?) possible due to issues with the Rocket Launcher, but I can't find the thread now. Is there possibly a way to let Heavy class soldiers carry a pistol weapon in place of a Launcher via the Loadout in-game? I'm assuming not, but wanted to be sure before spending ages trying to make it work! :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Theres several functions in the XcomStrategyGame.upk under XGFacility_Loadout that attempt to stop the heavy from using a pistol... i set all that i could find in there to allow the heavy to have the pistol. I don't know if there is something specific i need to add/change in the INI to allow them to equip it. There must be another method. Also, the only problem would be if the rocket launcher took the spot of the pistol on the UI... but you might be able to change the "eWP_Secondary" to None, and it just won't show up on the UI, but as long as you have the Fire Rocket ability, you should be able to fire a rocket. I was wanting to allow the player to exchange the Rocket Launcher with the Pistol, so that "sidearm or rocket launcher?" became a tactical choice, but I expected that there would be too much hardcoding that expects ALL Heavies to have the Rocket Launcher to make this possible (and it may be impossible to remove from the physical Heavy model's back, anyway). Failing that, making the Rocket Launcher take up an item slot (but limited only to Heavies) and act as a "secondary" (like the default Arc Thrower) would be an acceptable alternative; I don't think it would be too overpowered to allow a Heavy a pistol AND a Rocket Launcher, especially as they only get one rocket by default for the latter!
