Burnout122812
Lets face it. Things break. The more you use something the more weakened it gets. Yea I get swords are strong and take a lot of force to break. But what about shields and bows? Hell even armor over time need to be repaired. I have not found or seen a mod that either ages or wears out weapons. It would be very cool and original if this could happen.

Jitansgate
It's a Shame Bethesda Removed the Repair System cause Oblivion had it. But I agree Weapons and Armor do have Durability.
rarborman
Durability was one of the things that really added immersion to morrowind and oblivion... Bethesda done did goof by removing it, there are a few promising mods that could be used to add that immursion back... If only someone would take the time to make a durability and repair mod. Bifflog
The way it worked in Oblivion was more a pain in the ass than a good piece of immersion. Now, let's say you combined the old system of gear wearing down with the new system of weapon improvement. Weapons and armor that have been improved to their finest state should almost cease wearing. This would give great incentive to improve gear beyond what we already have. Furthermore, having weapons literally break in front of our eyes would be really shocking and a great piece of immersion if we used an ailing weapon for too long. rarborman
There are meshes for some weapon bits, I'm sure someone smart enough could script the weapon to switch out during a break swing and the bits would fly off and you'd be left holding a broken handle and half a sword, and afterwards have to grab your weapon chunks to reforge it for less cost. Burnout122812
Now that I think about it...having a weapon break on you during a good fight would suck. Durability but not during fights would work fine.
