Companions - Starting the Silver Hand revenge quests

Oh! I thought you got a dialog from Aela after Gallows Rock. As she does show up at Jorvaskker and she does say those things. But I don't have a quest that says "Ask the Companion Leaders for work" or something to that effect like I had after Dustman's Cairn.

Yeah, I return to Jorvaskker and no one, even after waiting 24 hours, has any radiant quests for me, not even Aela. So...

Update: Nope, I right clicked on UFO in the Mods tab and chose Uninstall Mod -> From All Profiles, loaded up Skyrim, loaded from before the quest starts, and it still doesn't recognize when I enter the Underforge.

You can try validating your master files after uninstalling UFO but you are most likely going to have to start a new game.

When validating master files be sure to delete Steam\appcache and the two ini files in Documents\My Game then shut your computer down for five or ten minutes

The "setstage" for Blood Honor seems to be working. We'll see. It's either stuff UFO left behind or stuff Lockpicking Overhaul left behind. I had to uninstall the last, the lockpicking mod, before I could even join the Companions, Vilkas kept saying I was using magic when I wasn't. That's a known bug, and one I've never been able to fix besides dumping the mod just so Vilkas can calm down about the imaginary magic use. >.< At least this time around there are more lockpicking mods and I switched over to Remove Lockpicking, does something similar though it doesn't cost me lockpicks as payment for using autopicking.

That bug was supposed to be fixed by USLEEP long ago.

If you are installing and uninstalling mods mid game there is the very real possibility that you have borked your game and may have to start a new game.

Installing and uninstalling mods mid game is quite often the cause of a completely FUBAR'ed game.

Oh, well, I don't use USLEEP, it borked Vicci Victori and I couldn't complete the DB quest to murder her at her own wedding yet when I uninstalled USLEEP the quest ran just fine, and there were only two entries in TES5Edit affecting her, Skyrim and USLEEP so... I stopped using USLEEP. And I only uninstall mods that I have to, like the Lockpicking Overhaul, with out changing that to another mod, the Companion quests would never start, Vilkus would eternally be complaining I am using magic when I wasn't when he tests me at the very beginning. Adding mods should be fine usually. Just have to be sure it's in the load order. Some mods require you to install them after the game is started. Like in FO4, the Pip Pad mod, the mod author put in big bold letters that it must be installed after leaving Vault 111 otherwise it will break your game.

Actually not installing any mods until exiting the Helgen cave is recommended. I do not install any mods except the unofficial patches until I have completed the intro in any of my games, which includes FO3. Might be different if you are playing with an alternate start mod.

This is different than installing and uninstalling mods mid-game. Doing so has the very real possibility of breaking your game.

Which is why I don't uninstall mods unless I have to, like when Lockpicking Overhaul proved to have broken the start of the Companions main quest. Or, in a much earlier run of the game, when USLEEP broke the Dark Brotherhood main quest. Otherwise what mods I start with I keep until the start of the next run. I might add a quest mod here or there. I know FO:NV the third NV Bounties mod, the mod author never added a trigger to start after NVB II was complete so it starts at the beginning of the game long before NVB 1 and II is even played which is breakage and spoilers so it gets installed mid game after I complete NVB II .

In reference to NVB three the mod author quite clearly states on the New Vegas Bounty three mod page that it should not be activated until after completing New Vegas Bounty one and two.

Always best to read the description on the mod page which will usually give you the information you need as to whether the mod is safe to load mid game and any recommendations as to load order.
