Hello people of Nexus I was hoping you guys could help me out. Any mod that I install with Nexus Mod Manager with the package manager, not downloading with manager but dowloading manually then converting it to a mod file I get errors not with the mod specifically but will the ENTIRE game, I can't enter dialogue with anyone and sometimes I get errors with common items and objects in the game. If anyone knows how to fix this please help because this is a game breaker for me.

I would send you guys my loadorder but I don't know how to do that in Nexus Mod Manager, other than typing it out manually but will waste to much of my time.

Thankyou and if anyone can help SOMEHOW please reply thanks.

Nexus Mod Manager, is a very touchy program, even doing what you say you are doing, there is the possibility that the mod files might not be......being applied correctly, if that unstable scrap of the English language just now made sense. My suggestion, is to only use the NMM to activate mods if you are using NVSE like I am. That way you know exactly what folders are being used by what, and it takes a bit more work to uninstall in the following way described, but you know exactly what you are doing and there is little margin for error. I like to keep the .zips of the mods I use, if they aren't zipped, i like to zip them up in archives then move them from that, making copies into the data folder, then I can use the archive to show exact locations where each file of an undesired mod is and uninstall JUST that one mod. a lot of people say to make a clean save to remove the chance of the game crashing or bugs, but crashes rarely happen, load your save normally and DO NOT allow it to autosave or anything while you see if your game can handle adjusting to the new lack of specific changes or content. With most game changing mods, as long as it doesnt outright replace vanilla files but instead makes new locations that get loaded up instead of the other files, the game will adjust to using the vanilla files again.

With weapon and armour mods, in this scenario the items will simply disappear from the game usually, then you just put something on to not be naked or whatever. this can be the same with quest mods that don't overwrite scenarios totally as far as locations nad npc's, in the case that the game is changed to some degree rather than just some new location with new npcs, the clock SHOULD be turned back to some degree, if not, I would say reinstall the mod, try to see if you can enjoy the game by keeping the needed mod, or make a new save without the mod as suggested before.

That's all the help my noobish brain can provide. Basically:

  • I wouldn't trust NMM for installation AT ALL
  • Don't worry about removing mods and loading up saves normally unless the game simply cannot go without that mod with its changes. Worst case scenario, make a new save, if its the pipboy files being replaced. remove all traces of the mod, move your data folder to desktop, verify game cache, then move the data folder (lacking any trace of pipboy files that would overwrite vanilla files) back into place. Same concept applies to other similar situations with FNV vanilla files.
  • Make sure everything was placed in the folder it was intended, and check mod descriptions on the mod pages, there is always the chance that you missed some requirements, it happens to the best of us. :)

Cool Thankyou very much I will try this, however I have clean save; I started a NEW GAME and still as soon as I walk out the door I can't pause and talk to people. However I will try verifying cache and I will manaully install mods. If it doesn't work i will reply back.

EDIT: I just remembered, one the mods I'm trying to install with the package manager thingo only have an esp file, so i'm just wandering how there could be errors.

PS: great post, very in depth
