Worldspace/Heightmap Questions

Hey guys my name Lumaria

So i'm about to create a new World-Space for Skyrim and i just have a few questions that have been bugging me about the creation kit!

1) Is there anyway to disable the grey background that clips and block my view of my world space?

2) How do I tell which way is north/south? (or can i manually choose which way is north/south)

Thanks.

The "grey background" is a lack of LOD files for your worldspace. You have to generate LOD to be able to see further than that. Here's a tutorial, But remember you'll have to remake the LOD every time you edit the landscape.

To enable LOD in the Creation Kit, go to Render Window Properties>LOD tab>Enable Landscape LOD. Also you can turn the skybox on and off by pressing 6.

To figure out which way is north, look at the coordinates in the cell view window. They are listed as "X, Y". Positive Y coordinates are north of negative. If you're at 0,0 and move to 0, 1 you're going north.
