raevyndarke
I have a YouTube channel that focuses a lot on game scenery, so whenever possible, I try to get screenshots/vidcaps without any player characters in them. In DAI, this is easy peasy with the flycam, but in DAO, not so much. I have managed to make a player character mostly invisible by purposefully equipping her with armor that has no female model... but unfortunately, it leaves the eyeballs visible. This isn't the end of the world, but it would be amazing if I could get rid of the eyes along with everything else. I have a ton of mods installed but haven't done much mod creation (other than editing some MORs), so my question is: a) Can this be done? and b) How? Any help is appreciated.
theskymoves
Eyes are probably like any other item in the game; if the mesh isn't found, the game will render it as 'invisible'. (Like the 'invisible armor' or 'floating head' that occurs when there's an Item Variation ID conflict. Or the missing-the-back-of-the-head thing that happens when someone loads a morph by forgets to install the hair mod it uses.) I'd try editing the MOR with pyGFF and changing the eye mesh field to something that doesn't exist. Edited to add that it works! With male-only armour, without helmet: With helmet (no floating eyes!): Invisible with weapons equipped: Edited November 25, 2019 by theskymoves
theskymoves
Tools I used: pyGFFDAOSaves I opened my morph with pyGFF, and changed the name of the eye mesh to one which doesn't exist in my override: Expand the MORPH_PARTS node, find the eye mesh (in my example, that was hf_uem_basa_0.)I changed it to hf_uem_basa_0_x, by editing the field in the 'edit' box at the lower left; hit the 'save' button below that to keep the edit, and then same the MOR by doing File>Save As. (I save it to my Desktop to make the next step easier.) I opened my game and made a new save (in case anything goes wrong), and then closed it out. Then I used DAOSaves to replace the old morph in the save with the new, no-eyes edit morph. Easy-peasy. If you use the toolset to make morphs, you could probably create a morph with no eye mesh by doing the same thing I did (using a mesh name that doesn't exist). but TBH I'm not sure if the toolset will barf when exporting a 'broken' MOR. *shrug*

theskymoves
Glad I could help. It was interesting working a problem backwards, as it were... usually the question involves something that is invisible and shouldn't be.
