Simple Weapon modding question.

hey everybody I had a really simple and quick question. I want to know how to switch two weapon models with each other.I've been playing with the Unique Uniques mod and I really like it but I want to switch the Bolar's Oathblade Model with the Dragonbane model. I have no idea how to do this and I would really appreciate some instructions. Thank you.

A couple of ways you could do that. In either case, you would want to know, ahead of time, which model(s) each one uses (ie: a main and a 1st person). Mind you, I'm not where I can open ck and am going off the top of my head. Please bear with me, if i mislabel tabs and buttons.

 

Creation kit: Open creation kit, create a new plugin. Let's start with Bolar's. Open Dragonbane first, click on the art/sound tab, see the file path for the primary model. Hightlight, right-click, copy. Now open bolar's, click on the art/sound tab, and use the drop down to select the 1st person model for Dragonbane. Then, next to the box for the world model, hit the edit button and follow through until you're in windows explorer. It should put you in the meshes folder, by default. If it doesn't, go there. At the bottom, past the file path from Dragonbane where you would normally select and open a file. Ok it and you should see dragonbane instead of Bolar's. When you ok and save it, the game should now follow that file path to find the model for Dragonbane, whenever it uses Bolar's. Do the opposite for Dragonbane. Save and install your new mod, as you normally would.

 

Mesh replacer: Use something like .bsa browser to extract the primary and 1st person models for both Dragonbane and Bolar's Oathblade, to a safe location outside the game folder. There is a right-click > extract to folders option that will order everything in its proper file path, wherever you end up sending it to. Go to the new location. If the two aren't in separate subfolders, separate them for the time being. Screen cap or jot down each name. Then right-click on the Bolar's and rename to Dragonbane (whatever name the opposite file was using, make it identical, so they swap properly). When you're done, rename Dragonbane to Bolar's. Place your new models in your data folder, following precisely the same file path as the game has them. If you're not sure, you can re-open the Skyrim-Meshes folders and expand the trees to see how they go. Once in, they should serve as mesh replacers, as the game will take what's in a loose folder before it takes what's in its own .bsas.
