No read/write permission for game data path! Bodyslide issue

Bodyslide worked fine before, the only thing I did was build a body to the overwrite folder, and that was a few days ago. Now it shows this message everytime, and this means it won't work correctly right?

I've tried running the program with admin permissions, but no dice. I have Skyrim and everything installed where admin permissions shouldn't be a problem. I also tried setting the programs to be run as admin automatically, but then they don't even launch from Mod Organizer 2. Maybe there is a new version I HAVE to update? I wanted to hold off until most of my other mods are ready for updating.

Help would be appreciated!

was a solution found to this issue? I'm having the same problem with the popup now

Do you run bodyslide from Vortex or some other mod manager, or do you run from a dedicated shortcut direct to bodyslide? If the former, (from a manager) there may be an issue in your mod manger configuration.

And as Grospolina suggested, check your bodyslide settings to make sure the path is correctly set.

specifically (from another post I made about Bodyslide studio)

Make sure that BodySlide Studio points to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\
or wherever steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\ resides on your computer

And obviously, that folder needs to have write permissions.

Sorry for the necro but had this issue and it was driving me nuts. Found out that it happened because I switched PC. It was on the same exact external drive but on my old pc it had drive E as its letter and on my new one it had D. It was easy to miss as everything else was exact so for anyone else who possibly stumbles on this issue, this is an option.

Ran into this issue using Mod Organizer 2. I moved MO2 to a new SSD, and everything broke. The above post is a bit vague, so if you run into this issue, here's what to do.

In MO2, click the "settings" button in the top-left (the crossed wrench/screwdriver icon). Make sure that all your downloads/mods/etc all point to the correct location.
Edit your executables to make sure that MO2 is looking for your bodyslide x64.exe in the correct location. BUT YOU'RE NOT DONE YET.

Run bodyslide, whereupon you will encounter the error. That's fine, close it. In the bottom-right of bodyslide there is a 'Settings' button. You now have to change bodyslide's game path data point to the data folder. Then close bodyslide and reopen it, and it worked for me, I hope this saves you a lot of time and you don't do what I did and pull your hair out convinced it's a windows drive permissions issue.

This will also happen if you just change the name of the output folder selected in bodyslide in explorer or your mod organiser. Fix by ignoring message, reselect output folder and restart bodyslide.

Happened to me when swapping drivers and I found a fix

-Open bodyslide and ignore/dismiss the message

-Click settings

-Make sure the "Game Data Path" folder is selected correctly, update if needed (what I needed to do)

-Restart Bodyslide

Should be fixed
