That's a chat client error, what's running in your background?

What's a chat client error?

I already tried to play with none background applications (except essential ones) and it still crashing when I enter the barren, so I don't think that's the problem

For example: I'm playing normally at Megaton and when I get out to the barren, the game crashes inmidiatly or after a few seconds or minutes... with the ''unknown exception....''

I get the same thing constantly, now just recently in the past 2 or 3 days my game has been crashing like mad, every minute of game play in the wastelands I get crashes, I can't get near Big Town without the game crashing. :wallbash: I'm starting ot think it's a bug caused by a bad hex hack from one of these mods. My most recent mods downloaded that would be causing these crashes around Big Town would be the Uniqueweapons.esp file and G3SilentGun, but for giggles I'll post what ESPs I have.

aa12full
AmplifiedCrippledEffects011
Clover - Goddess Hairstyle
dD-Less Blood Time, Larger Blood
G3SilentGun
jaynus - Big booms
LargelyIncreasedDamage0.21
MorphineRenameMod
Repair Mod
Smurf_Impact_WpnSkillDmg_75percent
vashdeagle

Now the game ran fine, sure I had ocasinal crashes and lag, but not like this recently.

I don't have any mod. Due to the problems I have, I prefered not use any. This game needs a lot of fixes... :ermm:

Thanks anyway

I think I have discovered something...

When I reboot the computer and start the game, I can play at the barren for a long time (30-40 minutes) and after a while, the game crashes and... if I start playing again the game crashes inmidiatly, but if I reboot the computer again and start the game, then I can play for another 30-40 minutes without errors

I don't know why this happen... :wallbash:

When you reboot your computer, your CPU and videocard fan spin at maximum speed for awhile. That might be enough to cool them down. When you actually start playing, heat starts building up slowly over time if the fans aren't cycling efficiently enough leading them to become unstable and crashing for you.

Is there a way to make the fans spin faster? :thanks:

I think i'll need to buy another video card... my crash whit the resolution remains, even installing the newest video driver.

I think the driver is new, but Fallout 3 is newest. (Am i speaking right?) It keeps sayin' to me that i must change my resolutions. I do change, but the game just don't run. Don't even open the Main Menu, just appear a tiny blcak box on the screen then comes the message. :( Should i wait for new nVidia drivers? Mine's Geforce driver 178.13. Anyone knows?

Don't buy anything, just wait for the fixes of the game. I have a lot of problems too, and believe me, it's only with Crashout 3... I mean... Fallout 3

Not sure... mine crashes all the damn time too... I've heard someone say something about a memory leak in the game code causing it, so we just need to wait for Bethesda to decide they should rather fix their buggy code than add downloadable content for us to pay more money for.

Here's a site i found that describes a fix for those that are having crashes due to ffdshow.

Fallout-3-crashing

Posting your system specs in this topic might help as well.

I'm running Vista 32bit and i get occasional freezes and have had a couple of crashes on exit. However Fallout runs fairly well on my system.Having the OS you're using and a list of your hardware, ram, etc, might help someone browsing this topic to better understand your system and what might be causing your problems.

Some are having sound related crashes,so updating your sound drivers might help.

Here's a quote from a fellow that was having problems due to some Asus programs.

Well, i'm glad to say my issue has been fixed. It was fixed by the same thing I needed to fix to play Fallout 3(as a ton of people were having issues with fallout upon release)

All i needed to do...get rid of the asus built in programs, aka gamerosd and smartdoctor.

Now the game works flawless.

Hope you all get things sorted out.

I already looked in that page long time ago. Not helped me because I don't have ffdshow so that isn't the problem. I don't have smartdoctor either or gamerosd...

My system specs are: AMD Athlon 64 3400+ @ 2,2GHz, 1GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 6200 Turbocache, Windows XP. I know that I don't have the min specs but I have played Call of Duty 4, Devil May Cry 4, Oblivion and Assassin's Creed, with no problems

I understand that people have problems using that programs or codecs, but I don't use them, my computer is clean. :thanks: anyway

EDIT: now the graphics card is ASUS NVIDIA 9500GT MAGIC and I have to say that now I play every game at max settings, even Fallout 3 runs fine, except for the crashing...

  • 2 weeks later...

It's been more than a month since I got Fallout 3, and I couldn't play at all because of the crashes. No one can help me to solve this and it's already too late to return the game to the store.

So that, I have to say to all the people to not buy this game until bethestha solve ALL the bugs in Fallout 3. And when I say ALL I mean ALL: music, graphics, memory, etc, etc...

Thanks to all the people who had tryed to help me.

I have bought a new graphics card: NVIDIA 9500GT. And I have to say that the game is amazing at full settings. Runs softly and everything is perfect but the game still kicks me to desktop. With this, I have proved that is NOT a problem of my computer, is a problem with the game. What else can I do? ....
