jjrap
I have the same problem that you guys have, i tried everything, unnistalled codec, alt+tab, windomed... My god, i don't believe that i buy this game, i mean the game is great, but that CTD bullshit is pissing me off!! :wallbash: :wallbash: I live in brazil, so the things here is 3x more espansive then U.S.A I cannot afford to pay a expansion of Fallout 3, if Bethesda doesn't fix the problems of Fallout 3, everyone will start to download the expansion by torrent, and then they will pay for this poo :verymad:
LordNighthawk4
Hurray I found a fix for my problem. This is going to be odd so..... Well, like I said, my PC had 1gb dd2 kingstone 800mhz, and I just brought a +1gb ddr2 kingstone 667mhz.... So now I have 2 gb ddr2 ram on 667 frequency (since the faster one is waiting for the lower one) and.... No problem at all! No nothing. I guess Fallout3 on 1 gb ddr2 has some memmory leak issues or so. Probably was ment to be played on lower frequencies? Beats me. Anyway, try upgrading like I did. 2h gameplay. No crash. i don´t think that you got rid of it...it now just behaves other then before. i bought the game on it´s release date and was able to play more then a month with nearly no ctd´s (just got a handful of them during this month). i bought a new graphics board on the 4th of december, but it has had a small display error so i send it back to get another functional one. i put back in my old 1950 and the game started to behave more then strange, i was not been able to play longer then 5 minutes without landing on my desktop again. as the new card arrived for some reason it did not get better, still the same crashes. i always cleaned everything up after changing drivers, so this should not be the point. at the end of december for some unknown reason the game got more stable....just out of nothing. after reading multiple posts in the bethsoft forum and trying around a bit the memory-leak story seems the one most logical. as long as i just changed my graphics board only one component came additional to my system - the hdmi encoder on the new graphics board (my old 1950 pro was not capable of). so it seems to be some strange kind of memory leak with a more strange behavior with codecs and encoders this game has. i actually have no real solution yet, it´s like digging in the dark as long as this game seems not even half way able to display a useful error message. JAD2008
I'm going to try the new patch soon, because I don't have the game installed right now due to the problems I used to have with it. So that, when I already played again patched, I'll make a post here telling what I experimented
Piso Mojado
I too have been experiencing random crashes. They got even worse after upgrading my nVidia drivers to v181.20 a couple weeks ago. Finally I got so fed up I googled around until I found a suggestion that the latest beta drivers had solved this problem. Sure enough, crashes be gone! So if you're running nVidia, try installing these drivers: GeForce Release 181 BETAVersion: 181.22Release Date: January 15, 2009Operating System: Windows Vista 32-bitLanguage: U.S. EnglishFile Size: 73.3 MB http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_181.22_beta.html
Thorn79
I have a ATI Radeon 3870 512MB DDR4 card and I get random CTD too. I think the game has a memory leak somewhere and it's not GPU related. Prior to the 1.1 patch I rarely ever had a CTD, but now that my STEAM version of the game updated to 1.1 I get random CTD every 30min -1hr. Sometimes after just 5 mintues I will get a CTD. Just lovely! :wallbash:
