New to Modding: Questions

Okay, so a friend and I are trying to figure out how to create our own mods after messing with it for ~5 hours or so.

We've watched YouTube videos, but they're not helpful when we're trying to create new races and they're telling us how to make followers, or whatnot.

We both have NifSkope, Photoshop CS6, and the CreationKit.

And I already know that modding isn't an easy thing that can be learned overnight.

What we're mostly stuck on is the fact that we can't get our custom texture sets to go into the CK.

We've created our own textures in PSCS6, and we downloaded a converter that makes the .jpeg file .dds

But when we put this .dds file into the CK, it says 'invalid directory'.

Soooo, can someone please help us out? :] It seems we're stuck on the whole creating-dds-files part.

NifSkope is a bit confusing, so if NifSkope is the program that makes the dds files, can someone please give us a dummy-tutorial for that?

To give you an idea of what we're trying to recreate is this:

I understand that Eiries is the creator, but we've already messaged them and got their opinion on things, we just need the whole

technical part to be troubleshot.

Any advice will help tremendous amounts, considering we picked up this whole modding thing as of 5 hours ago.

Please and thank you!

Put those textures into the textures folder in the data folder. They need to be in that folder, otherwise you get that invalid directory thing.

Thanks! I now have the textures working. I had them a step up in another folder. We're also trying to figure out how to put the cat ears on (in my case), a nord head. She's using a Breton. Both combined with Khajiit. So only the head is the human part. : ) If you know how, please let me know.

Yeah, thanks so much for your help. Now we're having problems about finding Skyrim's normal meshes, if those are even available to the public.

Scratch that, Hush found them but I'm sure we'll run into other issues rofl.

God, we suck at this.

LOL

I'm still puzzled how to get cat ears and what not working. And we got the texture working but it's crooked on her head. So yeah. Any advice?

Those cat ears, you made a mesh for them? are they suppose to work as a hat or you want to change the head completely?

I was hoping to put it onto the head like a Khajiit's ears. Otherwise I was going to have to put it on the hair, I'm sure.
