Just wondering...do you have the steam update that came out yesterday? it was in beta for a while, so if you opted into it that may be a possibility. it's crashing my ck b/c 1.8 skyrim isn't compatible with it.

After starting up the creation kit i get a message saying the creation kit has stopped working. And then it says that windows cannot find the solution. Earlier I had an issue with it being unavailable but a reinstall of the CK makes start, not i just get the message box during initializing archive...

Not sure what to do, I've checked the integrity of the files and even redownloaded Skyrim. The CK used to work on my computer but that was a few months ago. Now it can't get past start up.

I am having a similar problem with the CK since the 1.8 patch came out. Whenever I load a .esp file thats dependent on update.esm ( or even just loading up skyrim.esm and update.esm to start a new mod) It says Update.esm is a higher version than this .exe can load, I click yes to all, then it says it cant find masterfile update.esm, and then CTD's. Only noticed it today when I was trying to load up a mod I was working on.

Anybody have any ideas as to how to fix this???

EDIT: Well reinstalling the CK seems to have fixed it. Cross your fingers o_O

Also, what are your specs and what are you loading? Only the skyrim-masterfile? Or also a big worldspace? For example: 2 GB ram+skyrim master + 4kx4k Worldspace = crash in Ck (with 4 GB ram loading is no problem).

Also: Do what was told u from in the 2nd post (i think): Do not click ANYWHERE. Load Ck, get away from the Comp, have a smoke/s***/drink come back and enjoy it. If this does not work, let us know again.

@subtanker: Could this stem from some mod or two? Some people have had troubles with certain ENB dlls and with ScriptDragon. Also, some get to the part where the CK is initializing face gen or windows and then it tanks. Maybe test it clean with only skyrim and the ck, nothing else added. And verify cache while you are doing that. For some people, doing the verify cache numerous times worked. For this test, I would just keep a separate copy of your skyrim folder with mods under another name like *.bak, then you can switch it out when you want to play the game.
