macmert
I want to point out that the game is a bit too easy for my taste... I have to point out that I play on normal difficulty so maybe hard can be a real thorn in the side... I duck and cover for ranged enemies, get close to them, use VATS and blow their brains out... melee enemies are next to nothing, while they run, blow their brains off... I think critical hit is open to abuse, I am not sure of the formula but it is very much related to luck... like the old games but in the old fallout games you couldnt do as much critical hits as fallout 3... so here is the thing... increase luck as much as you can from the beginning so your critical chance increases... pick commando or gunslinger for your choice of weapons, or some perk gives bonus to energy weapons (in fact it is pretty much useless since power armor is not that uber like fallout 1 and 2, can be penetrated by shotgunshells) then pick finesse to increase your critical chance, finally pick better criticals... yes now you are an unstoppable warmachine... to further enhance your character, pick up sniper perk to increase your head shot chance... increase your sneak skill, sneak attacks are automatic critical hits, which is normal since you sneak attack... The old games perks had a disadvantage, I guess these disadvantages should be brought back, like for the finesse perk, in previous fallouts your damage would decrease, but your chance to hit critical is increased... I am lvl 13 right now and I pretty much fry or decapitate every single living organism in the game... so what do you say about all this? I would like to hear your opinion... Probe1
Definitely bring back the negative effects of perks. It doesn't so much upset the balance of the game as removes it completely, destroys all chance of you losing a fight and makes you a god.

Denamic
Most games on normal mode nowadays is actually easy mode, to not scare away the casual gamer.Except for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Play on Hard or Very Hard. Having thick armour actually makes a difference then, since enemies actually hurt you. Also, perks never had any negative effects. (except ones you earned for doing bad things, like being a slaver, digging graves or killing children)It's traits you're thinking of. And yeah, I'd like to have traits back too, but I can do without them.Actually, some of the old games perks were far more unbalancing than any of the FO3 ones. TehProfileth
"Actually, some of the old games perks were far more unbalancing than any of the FO3 ones." That maybe but, you did not get a perk every level (because that would make people bored having to wait the extra level or some crap like that), also the enemy's all were at different strengths but they were constant (none of this I will always be a weak ass punk no madder what), and most of all the enemies could get critical hits, wear armor (and have it make a difference, but you could not pick it up to as to balance the game), guns did a base amount of damage and did not increase because you learned how to shoot better (wow this was a good idea, guns that shoot bigger bullets faster because I read a magazine) they also could run out of ammo and so could you or one of your followers, I am getting off point, the point is that Fallout 3 is not even in the category that Fallout 2 and 1 are in. Fallout 3 is simply put a well done Oblivion total conversion mod.
macmert
Yea sorry not perks traits had disadvantages... maybe hard difficulty will make the game a bit tougher...
flowover
Of course it's easy on default easy mode. If it's too hard then it doesn't sell well. Ninja Gaiden. They had to release 3 times to recoup losses on it. If you want harder, don't be a ninny and crank up the difficulty. Alot more damage and alot harder penalties. Personally I never got the negative effects of perks. Perk to me means getting better. Negative effects that come with a 'perk' seems like an oxy moron to me. NXK
play the game on very hard and you will automatically avoid any gutsy you see :), and furthermore "very hard" feels like "just right"
MrPeng
Yes, the game is way to easy on normal setting.
Khet
Too easy? Heh... download this mod here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=388 And play on Very Hard. Then tell me the game is too easy. But, if it's Vanilla we're talking about, then yea the game is disgustingly easy. Even compared to Oblivion it's easier on the default (normal) difficulty. Ah well, that's why we have great modders in this community to make a mediocre game into a game that makes me shout "I FOUND A *ban* STIMPACK!" when both my legs have been crippled for the past thirty minutes. :D
