Rakuku
I tried to install Xcom on my laptop and got it working fine, but for some reason I can't get any mods working with it. THe modpatcher initially asked for an dotnet framework. I downloaded one and then ran the patcher. However when I did that Xcom wouldn't run, it would just lock up a couple of seconds after I tried to run it, using resources but the icon wouldn't appear at the bottom of the screen and the game itself wouldn't load. I uninstalled the mod and it worked fine, but whenever I try to install the mod the same thing happens. Any ideas?
Rakuku
Good news, I fixed it. Bad news, I'm not exactly sure how. The last thing I did was to delete xcom-original.exe. I've no idea of the significance of this action, other than it worked.
CabooseNor
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I had the same problem, and all I did was to delete "xcom-original.exe" and now it works. Thank you very much!
Drake1Storm
The latest patch was their latest attempt at curtailing modding (another poor one at that) Here is what you did:1. Delete the exe and associated files (or just uninstall the game)2. Re-download and install everything3. Run the game once (with no mods).4. Install your mods. Warning, the second wave mod does not work. You can still activate second wave, though, by editting the ini yourself. You jsut won't have a working marathon mode.
