The blaster cant wait but come on lightsaber it wud cut off enything so unless u wud make a script to cut off limbs without the enemy dying it wud be just another god wep and ruin the game and if some 1 did do that it wud make no logic to see a dude running in madness missing his arm or something funny tho

light sabers can be used by ordinary people just with alot of practice and time. Having force abilities can only enhance the basic concept of the training which is like sword training and it doesn't matter the weight of the handle the entire concept of light sabers are an advanced sword.

not sure if the 50lbs was an exact weight or just something to refer to it being really heavy, but Mark Hammil and Lucas himself talk about the weapon as being extremely heavy,

I can see a lightsaber being used as a cutting tool by someone who is not force sensitive or formally trained in it's use, for breaching heavy blast doors and such, similar to the way Qui-Gon was doing in Episode 1.

kind of off topic but if u left it on then drop it wudnt it go thro the floor and keep going so wudnt u lose it ? lol like in robot chicken and so wudnt if u had it in fallout it wud be a play only cuss if u killed some 1 with it it wud like sink to the center of earth and then u got a hole in the ground look what u did so its kind of just not such a great itme unless you had even more script for it so it turns off when others die or put away or you die but i wundnt mind cuting some 1s hand off then saying im am your father! pointless but fun

Get your Star Wars Lore correct please.

REAL LIFE lightsabers were heavy in Episode 4-5-6, because they were made out of heavy metal, using camera parts and what not. Thus why you see Mark Hamil gripping the lightsaber with two hands. And David Prowse (Vader) with one (he was a body builder). So infact they were heavy.

In the canon of the story I.E Luke's skill, he needed two hands to effectively fight against the far better trained Vader.

For the case of Obi-won The case was simply his age caught up with him.

The fact of the matter, in real-life they were heavy in the older movies in Canon Movie sense, they weren't suppose to be. One could refer to the new movies when they were made out of lighter materials so the actors could use one hand Hence Episodes 1-2-3 were everyone his fighting with one hand and supposed to be better trained in the Jedi Arts.

As far as other non-Jedi people using the lightsaber. There are a few.

Boba Fett used one in a Expanded Universe story, to effectively fight Vader.

Han Solo used one in Episode 5, and other times in the Expanded Universe

Grievous was a Droid who also used 4 lightsabers.

If we are simply merging a light saber into Fallout 3 it would be heavy (it'd be like in Episodes 4-6) because of lack of good light weight parts and such. Also thank you chuckskyline for the examples of people who DID use light sabers while not being jedi so there is no question if a normal person could use it.

I agree it would have to be a two handed weapon because of the lack of good materials to make it.

However, if you wanted to be Star Wars lore friendly: a Non-force user can not make a lightsaber it said, that you have to use the force to set the crystal in.

Perhaps a quest that is two fold: A jedi that lives in the land who made a lightsaber. You either have to kill (bad karma) or have him make you one that cost a crap ton of caps.

That would be lore friendly.

Or just make a Jedi Mod: It wouldn't be hard, plus with the Havoc tech that is in the game, you would just have to script things to move when a force push is used.

I don't know, just a thought.
