Really need help with this

My mod is at the last stage (companion mod) I've done everything i just cant for the life of me get them to interact/talk with my character i created the dialogue in the greeting tab ect I would provide screenshots but my G.E.C.K is too crash horny so i cant even open the file i saved back up and attempt to fix it. (don't feel like spending another 2-3 hours making my mod again) Advise on why the misfortune has came upon me would be nice. or a new updated G.E.C.K or something I already have geck power up and such. :sad:

 

I followed every single bit of this Tut well except for the self explanatory wsex part.

Is the greeting set to top level in the topics section?

 

No its under all the other companion topics is their a way i can put it first? I tried and it wouldn't let me then stopped working. I'll have to start all over on the dialogue part of my companion because Geck keeps crashing when i load my saved work.

I did not mean is it at the top of the list, but i just looked and its not required.....I really need to see a screenshot to see whats going on with it!

 

With GREETING selected, select one of the responses in the info box

look in the CONDITIONS area is the GetIsID set to the NPC?

This is very important as it sets the dialog to the NPC and is one of the most common mistakes. This has to be set for EACH response in the info area. Notice in the info box it says the name of the NPC under Speaker NPC. If it does not say this then you have to set the condition GetIsID

Its blank because I have do all of the dialogue all over since the geck wont let me load my previous saved esp my guess it got corrupted but by some miracle i saved a back up before i started on the dialogue. So how do i actually make it that my NPC talkable/intractable. I had the GetID all in place for each and every topic i guess i did something wrong on the greet topic last time.

Are you using any voice files in the greet? Im guessing your not which would explain why she does not say anything. I think i know what the problem is.

All the greed does is what it says it Greets the player and then it should display the topics that are marked TOP LEVEL. For each of the topics you want to be displayed in the menu that is shown right after she greets you you MUST click the TOP LEVEL box see pic below

If none are checked then there are no options. ALSO make sure that none of the greeting info items have the GOODBYE check box checked

So when im setting up the "greeting" dialogue it goes something like this?

My only concerns are what do i type in the box were it says greeting or does it not matter since its a greeting script and not a dialogue selection for my player i thinks that's were im getting most confused at and how do i move the dialogue conversation to hiring my NPC as a companion I assume i just link it in the choices box if I'm not mistaking.

The TOPIC TEXT is the player talking to the NPC.

The TOP LEVEL does not have to be checked as greetings topic does not need to be in the default topics displayed (list of topics displayed when you first talk)

the Choices is what topics pop up when a topic is selected.

 

Example

set followerstactics topic to top level, Topic Text: Lets talk about your tactics with followersTacticsCombat in the choices box

 

when your NPC first greets you in the menu it will say: Lets talk about your tactics and if you click it it will show the followersTacticsCombat topic in the next menu that pops up.

Oh I see So basically I start a string of dialogue from the 'Greetings" topic first, and then link the conversation to the Companion hire choice when necessary like for example.

 

NPC: hey how are

player: I'm good thanks

NPC : So what brings you this way

Player: I think you should travel with me

 

well of course I would make the conversation with more detail for the actual mod but that is just an example am I at least some what accurate? Not sure if the Priority is important.

 

 

Edit: Okay I did all of the things you showed and the same thing still happend i think it could be the NPC script setting or something else not linking the dialogue to my NPC

 

 

Re edit: I got the Dialogue working I had to reconstruct a Whole new NPC now all i have to do is get the hiring ect done. is it normal to the error message failed to compile script or something I can't get a screen cuz the message wont come back up even after i cut and re paste the script its as if its working fine now witch is confusing to me.

i'll post a video of the dialogue once im done with it to see if there are anymore errors.
