JonarusDrakus
Hey, I'm having a repeated crash on game start, I get through the opening credits, and through all of the stuff with Doc Mitchel, but right after he gives me the pip-boy and stops talking to me, the game crashes to a windows 'report error' pop-up... My system specs are as follows:CPU: AMP Athlon X2 5600+ (dual 2.81 - not overclocked at all)RAM: 3gb DDR2 (brand-name, corsair I think)Graphics: Asus nVidia GTX-550 Ti (1gb on-board ram)Mobo: GigabyteHDD: 500gb WD (sata2)PSU: 700w Thermaltake OS: Windows XP home, sp3 My load-order in NV-FOMM is:falloutnv.esmdeadmoney.esmhonesthearts.esmoldworldblues.esmlonesomeroad.esmgunrunnersarsenal.esmclassicpack.esmmercenarypack.esmtribalpack.esmcaravanpack.esmproject nevada - core.esm +ammospreadeffectfixer.esmafterschool special.esmelectro-city - completedworkorders.esm +decrucifixion.esmnvr-strip.esmspeedyresources.esmlings.esmproject nevada - rebalance.espproject nevada - cyberware.espproject nevada - equipment.esm +26_fixes.esp **better burned man.esp **brahmin-variant.esp **the new bison steve hotel.esp **uhnv.esp **lonesomeroadscorchedsierrapowerhelmet.esp +uhnv-dead money.esp **uhnv-honest hearts.esp **uhnv-owb.esp **uhnv-lonesome road.esp **nvr-npcs.esp **novac motel - couriers room.esp +novac motel - exterior.esp +nvr-version_10.esp **nvfr-version 1.esp **project nevada - dead money.espproject nevada - honest hearts.espproject nevada - old world blues.espproject nevada - lonesome road.espproject nevada - gun runners' arsenal.espsecretstash60.espfreeplayaftermqnvv1_6.espfree the slaves.espcliff's empty drinkable bottles.espdecrucifixion.espdecrucifixion - more victims.espmod loot - 2. reasonably rare.espcamon mg42 and ss outfit.esp1sbsteamoutfit.esplaunius & nyarlothep's proper hunting rifle replacer.espblackwolf backpack.espblackwolf backpack - vendor script replenish.espboa ncrpahelmet.espvt custom ranger gear.esptailor maid - nv.esptailor maid black retex - nv.espcharisma based follower limit.espcompanion sandbox mode.espfollower home marker.esplight step ed-e.espnvwillow.esplfox bottle that water.esp #two bears highfiving.espweaponmodsexpanded.espthe gourmand revived.esp +project nevada - wmx.esp #wmx-modernweapons.espwmx-deadmoney.espwmx-honesthearts.espwmx-oldworldblues.espgeonoxt3armors.esp +wmx-lonesomeroad.espwmx-gunrunnersarsenal.espwmx-preorderpackclassic.espcables derby hat.esp +wmx-preorderpackcaravan.espwmx-preorderpackmercenary.espmkc.esp _+wmx-preorderpacktribal.espvurt's wfo.espfellout.espmp40.esp +bettergameperformancev3.espshilohds-desert succubus core.espwasteland soldier - nv edition.esp +rugarmini14.esp +fahrenheit451armor.esp +sandcrete kit.esp + ((not enabled)) NOTE: Mods highlighted with an "#" are 'new' since the game was last working. Mods marked with "**" are tagged by the 'load order report' as: "The current load order of this mod does not match the current template". Mods marked with a "+" are tagged by the 'load order report' as: "(probably) safe to put anywhere"Aside from these 'active' mods, I also have a large texture pack installed. Namely, NMCs Texture pack (Medium) + latest patch there-of + 'washed out' variant patch. I have already re-verified the game files via steam, and removed one suspect mod already (that mod was the "weapon mods menu" mod - removed through the package manager, not just the 'active' list). I have tried 'turning off' all non-critical .esm/.esp files (everything but the base-game .esm, and the race-mod .esp need for the current save to function). I have also tried auto-sorting the mods in FOMM using the included auto-sort function...I'm basically at the point of loosing sleep over this (I hate leaving problems un-resolved), so ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated! ~JD
JonarusDrakus
Okay... So no help there... Little point as I decided to take the 'extreme' route... I re-installed the game from scratch (twice actually, but that was my own fault for not deleting stuff correctly the first time). Of course that came with all the frustrations of Steam dragging its feet in terms of download speeds... The problem now, is that I barely even started re-installing mods before things went to hell again... In this case, the games menu has gone 'pink screen' :http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/2337/zsjfvgcesc.jpg The only mods (aside from the base game and official DLC) running at this time are:NVSE (latest version)AKS74uDarNifiedUNIVProject Nevada Core Cyberware Equipment Rebalence DLC compatibility patches There are two minor texture replaces active as well (Flour and turpentine). The "Unified Hud Project" (latest version) Is also installed and running. REMOVING DarnUI and PN (and Unified Hud) doesn't help (even with the fallout.ini reverted to non Darn format) I would REALLY like to get this resolved, I've been unable to play NV for the better part of a week now, and the problem is proving to be so much of a distraction that I am unable to play anything else and am even having trouble sleeping (!!!). I would also prefer to get the issue sorted without having to resort to yet another re-install (and another agonizing 4-5 hour wait because of steam - Not to mention the fact that my total download amount is not unlimited). PLEASE HELP!! ~JD
JonarusDrakus
Aaaaand another solo update on this far too drawn-out process... On a hunch, I installed a full texture pack that I had (NMCs 'Medium' pack). And I was proven right! All the 'new' textures added by the pack showed up perfectly fine! Making it quite clear that it wasn't really a corruption of the textures themselves (or the file system/structure to which they were added). Unfortunately, this still wasn't a full fix, as there were still some textures that were not replaced by the pack, and they were still 'glitched'. Most notably, the various slides that cycle through the main menu screen were still solid pink (as shown in the screen-shot in my previous post). Furthermore (and i suspect this is the source of the issues), the in-game hud/menu 'artifacts' were still all messed up. Thus I can pretty safely narrow the issue down to some kind of clash between: In-game image with glitched HUD:http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/1677/screenshot20bv.jpg > Project Nevada (latest version + all DLC patches)> DarNifiedUINV (v. 04)> Unified HUD Project (v. 2_20-3896) Before all these issues started a week ago, I had both PN and DarnUI installed and functioning together happily... Now, even with the 'Unified HUD Project' running, I have these issues... Completely removing all three and reverting to 'base game' doesn't fix the issue either. ANY help would be appreciated at this point, ~JD Edited November 8, 2012 by jonarus_drakus
blove
Could be a UAC issue if you have FNV installed in it's default location. If so, make sure that you are running FOMM as an administrator. You might also want to uninstall your HUD mods then check that there is no longer a "Menus" folder in your FNV "Data" folder.
JonarusDrakus
Never mind anything else... I can hardly believe this... But its freaking Archive Invalidation thats doing it!! How? Why? I haven't the slightest clue... But I install it and then "Pink Screen"... Seriously, WTF? ~JD
JonarusDrakus
Okay, the 'pink-screen' issue is dead and buried... So now I'm back to square 1... The problem is somewhere within the "Desert Succubus" race-mod, that much I know for sure. I can start a 'vanilla' race character and get through the char-gen phase fine... Which I did, I then went to the saloon and spoke to Shiloh to 're-spec' my character as a DS, and that went fine too... But now, having left the saloon, the game crashes whenever I try to re-enter... While I was in there last, I noticed that one of the added NPC was glitched in the body textures area, so I'm guessing the current crash in an extension of that... I've disabled/re-enabled Archive Invalidation (in FOMM), used BOSS to re-sort my load order, re-started my computer... Nothing seems to help... So far as I can tell, the mod *should* be working perfectly fine - But it isn't... HELP! I love the DS race, I don't want to play without it! ~JD EDIT: Dammit... Scratch that, DEFINITELY back where I started, can't get out of Doc Mitchel's, crashes right after I get done talking to him, race/gender makes no difference, DS deactivated, uninstalled even. Still it crashes... I suspect the DS-race is still the culprit, ALL other mods besides it check out... But I'm just not sure any more... *sigh* Edited November 10, 2012 by jonarus_drakus
JonarusDrakus
Well, the problem has FINALLY been resolved! Turns out I made an *epic fail* mistake in acquiring UHNV (Underground Hideout New Vegas). It is NOT, repeat NOT, compatible with the DS-race (Desert Succubus). The cause is (though I can't prove this) almost certainly due to UHNV's inclusion of manikins (That are, I'm guessing, created via a 'custom race'). Now that I've got this sorted, I felt it best to publicly post the results so that no-one else has to suffer through more than a week of re-installed and bug-fixing trying to figure this problem out (like I did)... Besides, I'd take the DS-race (and its Hot Goth chics) over UHNV any day :P ~JD
