Modern futurized weapons-

1. I actually know about the AKM, but it never occured to me that it would actually go on anyone's nerves that massively. I just meant really any of the variants chambered in 7.62x39mm. Just calling it "AK" or "Kalashnikov" could mean, say, the newer AK-74, or, if taken to extremes, the RPK.

2. For that matter, and in keeping with the chinese-invasion theme, I wouldn't mind a Chinese Type 56 either, which AFAIK was a copy of the AK-47. (It was actually licensed before the AKM went into production.) Some 10-15 millions of them have been produced in China, and turned up all over the globe, so maybe the chances are better with that one.

3. Semi-automatic versions can sometimes be modded back to fully automatic. You'd break the law if you did that today in the USA, but in the Fallout wastelands nobody would care :P

Among military personnel, particularly those that have been in Vietnam, Iraq, or Afghanistan, 'AK' is generally assumed to refer to the 7.62x39 model. AK-74's, Krinkovs, RPK's, etc tend to be specified as such when mentioned since they are quite a minority in comparison to regular AK's.

I totally agree about the Type-56 - I think it'd be prolific if the Chinese had invaded in the 50's or 60's before a nuclear war had broken out. You're also absolutely correct that the Chinese were making their own license-copied AK's of their own before the AKM was officially adopted by the USSR.

But, again, more than existing designs I'd like to see a few older designs, but also much "newer" fictional fallout-themey weapons that are realistically based on Fallout canon and similar fluff. Though even in 2077 I'm sure the AK will still be in style. Hell I'm not sure the AK will ever go out of style, really.

As for your #3 comment there - as an armorer I can say definitively that it is NOT simple AT ALL to modify any closed-bolt semiauto to fire fully automatic. In every single MG design family with which I have hands-on experience, (which includes the AR-15/M16 family, Kalashnikovs, M1/M2 Carbine, Mini-14/AC556, UZI's, HK's set up to use a registered sear pack, etc.) a great deal of additional and very specific parts are required to allow it to function at all, let alone reliably, as well as very precise machine work in order to fit those parts.

In the event of 'Fallout' happening, you really won't find a bunch of gun nuts in their garages with some metal files, scrap metal and wonderglue making their semiautos into full autos. - But you might see the occasional veteran dusting off and reassembling carefully smuggled duffel bag AKM bringbacks and the like, although that's vastly less likely to happen these days than it was back in WW2 and Vietnam.

Fregged121 - a KPV? Are you kidding?

At a Class III machine gun shoot years ago, some of the DD crowd (that's Destructive Device.. not something else you see on girl's bras) brought a registered 14.5mm Russian PTRD anti-tank rifle.

I was offered a chance to fire it, and like any 16 year old guy would have I jumped at it.

I'll just say that I fired exactly ONE (1) round from that weapon and I have zero desire to fire a second shot, ever. LOL. In comparison, the Lahti 20mm cannon I fired was much, much more pleasant and much easier on the shooter than the PTRD.

Considering the ridiculously huge size of the 14.5x114 ammo, even someone in Power Armor wouldn't realistically be able to haul one around with the KPV's 110+lb weight and keep it fed when ammo weighs close to 1lb a shot in some cases. It'd be much easier for someone to control on full auto since it does weigh 110lbs... but its just too big and too unlikely to be found.

It was barely palatable for me to swallow the idea of a guy in Power Armor or a Super Mutant carrying an M2 .50 as seen in Fallout:Tactics. A KPV would realistically be too much for anything smaller than a Mutie Behemoth, IMO.

Helicopter-mounted machinegun?

KVPT 14.5mm repeating cannon. Normaly(for all sane use) it is fired from a stationary turret position. BUT it can be fired from the hip in VERY small bursts with lots of kick.

Not hoping for realism when it comes to this, this is just badass.

Let's hope the super mutants never get a hold of that one. Carnage on a massive scale!

I wouldn't mind seeing one of the various SKS models as an alternate to the generic hunting rifle. Use the 5.56 (for easy modding) and it's golden. Then again, a Warsaw Pact mod full o' commie guns would be superb and neat. Nothing better than dropping raiders with an SKS. Mind you, I'd want the stripper clip (to keep the lovely lines) instead of those goofy-ass banana or drum magazines you see floating around. Heck, why not mod up some old Romanian or Hungarian (or Polish) Warsaw Pact uniforms as well. Put 'em on the raiders and have a Red Dawn kind of Fallout experience!

The SKS is fun to shoot in real life too! Extra bonus!

I bet Super mutants would love this, since i recall their fondness to Browning MG in tactics. Anyway since H&K seems to be around Fallput I wouldnt mind seeing few of their modernkited out guns like MG36 or XM8. Although i was more of a cashless weapons fan in F2, more variety isnt bad.

I think they were more addicted to the bug as opposed to the actual volume of lead they could throw downrange. The bug was the only way that the super mutants could actually hit anything. Never mind they never actually hit what they were aiming at...

Sweet merciful jesus crap.

Forget firing this from the hip. the SDK needs to come out so someone can make this mounted to a granny walker.

Fires 5.7x28mm ammunition.

I'd like to see this gem of a gun in the FO universe.

LOL a Granny Walker? That'd be like parking a car on a skateboard.

I'm thinking we just need a Cryslus Highwayman with a rumble seat installed where the trunk is, and have a roof mounted triple stack of Eugene's on a flex mount for your NPC buddy to shoot while you drive or vice versa, though sadly that'd be a bit too much like Halo...

How about an M1 carbine in .32?

Or better yet a Ruger Mini 14 in 5.56.

A semi-automatic only. More accurate than the assault rifle since it's semi-auto and should do about the same damage as the hunting rifle. should be really lightweight too. Like 5 LB.

Yes sir. A granny walker. To add to the ridiculousness and the hilarity.

I wonder if mounts would be possible, since this uses the same engine as Oblivion did.

5.56X45mm

The gat in the game is utter BS for RoF, and why do you have to "reload" it(I laughed my ass off when I first saw the character reload this thing, and the flame thrower), seriously? that's what the back pack would be for, it's just missing it's conveyor between the two.

Also, since I know for a fact there is an airsoft version of this, you "could" turn it into a BBgun with an insane RoF and insane ammo capacity >:3 DEATH BY BB'S!

ok, yeah, that actually sounds like more fun, since there already is a Red Ryder BB gun in the game, lol... YES YES YES MUST HAVE!

basically, most things in The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Arsenal mod.

most weapons in that pack have already been modeled/skinned many times, and you would just need to ask the author for permission to convert it over to the Gamebyro engine (everything would be user created, therefore legal).
