Modern futurized weapons-

basically, most things in The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Arsenal mod.

most weapons in that pack have already been modeled/skinned many times, and you would just need to ask the author for permission to convert it over to the Gamebyro engine (everything would be user created, therefore legal).

Here's a link to the thread with the weapons list:

And how exactly does taking a menu of the same old BS guns from Stalker make Fallout more Fallouty?

Does Stalker have any Wattz Electronics Laser Pistols? I think not. Same on the 5mm AK-112's and the MP9 10mm SMG's.

In short, you're saying that FO3 should be STALKER in the FO3 world.... That would suck.

General_Failure : The XM214 was made on *very* small and experimental scale, plus the battery would usually last for around a whole 2500 rounds according to the Lockheed literature that I could find as an Armorer. As such it was NEVER a viable weapon system and frankly the whole point of a multi-barreled minigun system is to spit tons of ammo very fast in prolonged fire - and infantrymen can only carry so much ammo and burning through your 1500 rounds of 5.56 in less than a minute would leave two good soldiers with zero offensive capability and about a hundred pounds of expensive weapons that did them ZERO good in a firefight.

No guns were built specifically for muties, either, and if they could handle firing an M2 .50HB off the hip they'd hardly need the concession of going down to an XM214, they could happily handle actual M134's.

Honestly, the worst thing someone could do would be to try to make the idea of a man-portable minigun or gatling laser any more 'realistic' than it is already in the Fallout Universe. The idea of a side-door ammo hopper built into the weapon isn't a bad idea in the vanilla FO3 and frankly its a lot more realistic than the idea of shooting/carrying a minigun with *ZERO* power supply. If you really want to think up a purpose for the backpack, tell yourself that's the stacked up backpack with all the fresh ammo hoppers and a power supply to keep that minigun spinning.

As for the KRISS, see my post in this thread: http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=83074.

I think its armchair tacticool nonsense at its finest. When my Dad gets his semi-auto KRISS SBR I'll see whether or not it's worth a damn in that kind of configuration. My money is on no.

Oh, and P90's are kinda-okay since they are very easy to control on FA, but the ammo is little more than a glorified .22 Magnum even in the SS190's case with its steel penetrator tip.

If you really want to piss off a P90 guy, try dropping a loaded 50 round mag of 5.7x28 and watch as its elaborate feeding mechanism fails and it spews ammo all over the floor. This is a common problem in P90 magazines and it has been known to affect weapons that are dropped or struck while a full magazine is inserted.

Yes, its snazzy looking, very racy, and everyone is fascinated with any ammo where most of the flavors are restricted to LEO's and Military... yet .22 Mag offers nearly identical ballistic performance, even when defeating armor, and nobody's crying about Grendel P-30's. Oh well.

Combat in stalker is far more fun then fallout unfortunately. I want all the stalker weapons (at least the ones chinese have uesed) and the fallout weapons.

I'm not debating that - FO3 combat needs work, and that is well known.

What I'm asking, is how would importing all of STALKERS weapons make Fallout better at being Fallout, vs filling Fallout with a nice majority of nicely fluffed future-50's-retro kind of guns that have zero need to make concessions to realism in order to be enjoyable, and thus allowing a developer to make the guns any way they needed to in order to make a nicer gaming experience?

In all fairness, I skimmed over the list in the Arsenal mod and they are _real_ weapons. If nobody complains about, say, Brurpo's AK-47 being available or about Alexscorpion's CETME G3A3 skins or vasht's Desert Eagle, I don't see why they should get depressive about an AK-74 or a Steyr-AUG or a Glock :P

I see your point too, but different people have different tastes and it doesn't have to be the same mod. Whoever wants RL weapons, can get a mod with RL weapons, and whoever wants fantasy weapons, I'm sure someone will eventually make some.

I know people want to Stalker/COD-ify FO3 and that's fine by me if they want to do it, I understand and respect that everyone's tastes are different.

The problem is that for all the bitching people have been doing about FO3's weapons (and Fallout 3 in general and how it fails to be a 'true' Fallout), NOBODY is making *ANY* Fallout-y weapons, save perhaps the guy working on a scoped Laser Rifle, and a reskinning of the Chinese Assault Rifle to 'AK-112' status... :\

There's been so much bellyaching about FO3's lack of 'Fallout' feel and yet nobody's doing anything about it from the weapons side of things. :(

I'm passionate about Fallout, and I'd love to offer what knowledge I have about firearms and see that utilized... but sadly I'm a complete dummy when it comes to coding and playing with hex so I'm useless on that front.. :\

I didn't play the other fallouts, but I would like to see more of the weaponry that existed in those games, or other weapons that are mentioned in the FO3 world but don't exist, such as putting in a few very rare AER12s. Maybe the vault dweller could find a damaged AER12 and have to go on a quest to get some energy weapons expert to fix it?

And so, lets start thinking up weapons that would fit for Fallout. Of course we will run into some problems in that there are only so many weapon designs possible, and a large number of the have been used over the past 60 years. But here is a beginning of a Fallout-y weapons list:

First weapons that were in the previous Fallout games, but were not added.

.223 pistol

14mm pistol

scoped hunting rifle

And onto others...

Pump shotgun

doublebarreled hunting shotgun

carbine and para versions of the assault rifles

maybe some bren-style top or side-loading rifles, LMGs, SMGs.

perhaps some drum-magazine weapons (might be hard to avoid looking like a Thompson)

M79-style grenade launcher?

some sort of electricity-shooting zappy gun

On top of weapons, i would really like to see though would be different ammo types. 10mm JHP and AP, .223 FMJ, et cetera. Ammunition that has different uses and effects (incendiary ammo? exploding shotgun shells?)

wtf

I had no clue STALKER was moddable!

That is a really seriously good idea. I guess someone should get on asking around then?

doublebarreled hunting shotgun- I guess we can look forward to someone converting the stalker animations and textures on that one.

ummm and whoever mentioned the idea of a BB-Minigun.... You're insane. I'm going to have nightmares now.

I also have an idea for a "Plasma Rocket Launcher"?

Think like the Gauss Cannons on Halo, except better.

And where is our plasma gatling gun?

Someone make. plz2thx

I was also thinking of some sort of super tazer. Like the shock coile from Metroid Prime Hunters
