Assuming you purchased the "Fallout New Vegas (FNV)" game within the last six years or so, it should be fully "patched" as far "official" patches from the game publisher go. The "modding community" has produced some additional "unofficial" patches to fix problems the publisher never got around to correcting. They are listed in the following wiki article.

Your other questions regarding "unp", "cbbe", and various "types" refer to "body replacements" or methods to apply them. That is a more complex subject, also covered in the following wiki article. My recommendation would be to get an otherwise stable and functional game setup before you try to introduce "cosmetic" or "pretty" mods. The game was designed for 32-bit systems, which means even with every trick employed all you can use is just under 4GB of memory. Even the latest and greatest gaming system will hit a limit to how much you can mod this ten year old game.

I recommend anyone read the entire "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to understand the differences between this game and others you may have experience with; especially if this is your first attempt to play a modded FNV or it's been more than a year since you last did so. It is designed for someone who has never played a modded PC game before, so it tries to avoid making any assumptions.
