Skyrim crashes after launch with Dawngard DLC

Hello guys,

I just bought the Dawnguard DLC and downloaded it, as soon as I try to lunch the game it crashes in the screen with the Skyrim Icon,(where you can choose to continue the game or start a new one) as soon I see the icon it crashes.

I have Nexus mod manager installed, is it maybe because I downloaded mods before I installed Dawnguard?

I deinstalled all the mods, game does still not run, as soon as I start Skyrim without Dawnguard it works....

Please help I have no clue what I shall do :( ...

Greetings Baker one

Try editing your Skyrim.ini file (in C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Skyrim) and add "Dawnguard.bsa" to the [Archive] section at the end of the list called "sResourceArchiveList" like this example:

[Archive]

sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa, Dawnguard.bsa

sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa

Otherwise, have you tried starting a new game with Dawnguard?

Thx for the help but it does not work, I can't start a new game because the game crashes before I can choose to continue the game or start a new one. :(

What patch version of Skyrim are you on?

Not sure but when I right click on the launcher simbols(there are 2) in the skyrim folder it says for: TESV 1.8.151.0 and SkyrimLauncher 1.3.22.0

Now im not sure if that is the game version, where can I find that?

ignore what the laucher said, the version of skyrim your running is patch 1.8.151, and ist buggy as hell,almost but not as bad as patch 1.2 was.

If possible revert to skyrim version 1.7.7, and try it again. So far Patch 1.8 doesn't like dawnguard.

how can I bring it back to 1.7.7? and if I do so how can I prevent steam to patch it again to 1.8.151?

thx for the help :)

go to my profle and look for the yahoo box, in that box is my email, shoot me one and I 'll send you my backup of the 1.7 update.esm and update.bsa, which you will place in the skyrim/data folder and when asked to replace choose yes.

go under steam settings and select "don't automatically update" and then keep steam in offline mod.
