Wondering if theres a simple way to have more than one buddy following you at a time; currently got Dogmeat and the Brother of Steel with me; want Charon as well, but it doesnt let me.

Any way to alter this easily, or anyone know of any mods to let him join my party in addition to the two i currently have?

i dont get it neither... 1st round i played i had star and was able to recruit clover too + dogmeat... 2nd 3rd and 4th try i only got one follower...

had to let star leave the group, recruit clover and rerecruit star... that worked for me... sadly not for the other buddies

There's a side quest you get from Big Town to save Red and some other guy (can't recall his name) from Super Mutants, and you can equip them with armor and weapons and not return them to Big Town if you want 2 extra "companions" following you.

Don't forget Sydney, who also starts out with decent armor and a rather nice weapon and will tag along until the quest she's associated with is completed. She's also got an easy "heal me" dialog option if she gets wounded in battle.

Multiple followers would be a much more attractive concept if they didn't have a nasty habit of standing in doorways and blocking your path. Having Fawkes and Cross at the same time would turn your party into a real force of nature, I'll say that much. Add Charon in and you could just hang back with Dogmeat, pop a Nuka-Cola and watch the fireworks.

lol. ;D

Althought that would be really fun to try out. It would pretty much make every fighting in the game pointless.

Just set em loose on the mall and watch mutant ass gettin kicked from one end to the other.

P.S.: Gonna use that quote as signature. :P

While having more than one buddy would make the game too easy perhaps, I myself would still love the option of having them. Not so much to take them into battle, but to have them wait at various locations should I have use for them. In fact, as I can't stand to have companions get killed, I'd be unlikely to take them into battle at all. I'd still like to have Cross backing up the Sheriff at Megaton, Clover watching my house, Fawkes keeping an eye on Arafu and Charon making the Tenpenny folks nervous. (without killing the lot o' them, DAMN that Roy- Don't explain what I mean and nothing is given away.)

Ah, and if they could be told to stay in one place as if they lived there, eating drinking and sleeping, etc. as could be done with companions in Oblivion... That'd be perfect. Could basically command a cadre of guards to be dispensed at your discretion.

I currently have Dogmeat, Jericho, Rl-3 and Sydney following me!

I used the console to make Dogmeat essential, then hired Jericho, but before I set him as essential he died. I was in a position where his help was needed so I cheated and resurrected him with the console then made him essential. This cheats the game into thinking you no longer have a companion, although the resurrect command makes the resurrected NPC follow the previous AI (im assuming) which was following me, So then I bought RL-3, and just haven't completed the quest which Sydney is involved with so she stays with me. There is a draw back to ressurecting companions in this way however; I no longer have any control over Jericho, I cant tell him to wait or give him any items (stimpack not neccesary as he's now essential) he just follows me blindly. I have yet to test with further companions so I don't know if this is a one off. I've also just thought of a way to make Jericho wait somewhere that might work. Use the console on him with TAI to toggle off his AI so he won't follow, not sure if that will work, otherwise make him non-essential, kill him with the console, then come back later to ressurect him. Not tested so Don't know if it would work.

I go have a look now.

Jericho's death script includes these lines:

set Followers.PlayerHasFollower to 0
set Followers.JerichoHired to 0

So try typing in console "set Followers.PlayerHasFollower to 0". That may trick the game into letting you get another follower.

Also, Jedininj-whatever, try using the console command "set Followers.JerichoHired to 1" and see if Jericho acts like a proper follower again. Just a hunch, don't forget to save first in case it doesn't work out. (I don't recommend people who haven't hired him trying to do this, however. It would probably confuse the crap out of the game.)

It's better to do it the other way around by killing dogmeat and then resurrecting and restarting his quest. That way, you get 2 regular companions with full conversational/inventory control + Dogmeat who can also be controlled too.

Right now I am Sidney, Dogmeat, RL-3, and Clover and I can talk to all of them and have them wait, etc.

The game only allows you 1 follower + dogmeat. If you get dogmeat and then hire a follower, kill dogmeat and the game will open up another follower slot. Go and hire another follower then and you have 2. Then if you want dogmeat back, resurrect him and type in resetquest 943ed and Dogmeat will meet you all over again.
