Grass lighting problem

Hello.

My problem is with grass. It does not reflect light(from torches, lanterns...):

It's only affecting grass. Trees and other plants behave as they should.

I used google to fix the problem but it didn't work out well... ;/

I've found a few topics around the web about this problem but there weren't many, so I'm guessing it's only affecting some of the users, not all. Am I wrong?

Specs: i7-2600k 3.4GHz, 8 Gigs of RAM, GeForce GTX 580(driver:306.23, on previous versions had same problem)

Mods I use: well.. plenty but worth mentioning are Lush Grass, Vurt's Flora Overhaul, and newest RCRN(before I used CoT and RLWC - same problem), also ENB 0.119 and other hires texture packs like Skyrim HD. Disabling them doesn't change anything.

I'd appreciate any help, thanks.

Bump...

I've made clean install today and played a little. Unfortunately grass is still a problem. In vanilla Skyrim it's less noticeable but it's not fixed. I started new character, without any mods, so it's not a mod or save related bug. I repeat question: Is this happening to everyone, or it's only for "the chosen"?

Hi to save you from your trouble..is a vanilla buggy visual issue that -maybe- missed on purpose by Bethesda devs.Actually I 've searched a bit these bug and the plant textures are getting the light changing from external lights like torches but not a single grass texture does.

Maybe something that can't be solved due to limitations of the engine.

This is one of the things that make me do not play the game during night times.

Using a torch and seeing the grass all black just makes me want to quit the game.

I even took this picture

to show how the grass in the left of the screen just ignores the light from the torch.

I use The Wilds ENB which is gorgeous. Makes the Skyrim looks like a much more modern game.

But the grass do not react to light.....such a bummer....

I notice that only the very low grass has this issue kinda of a the performance grass i guess.

So i think the only fix would replace this kind of grass with some other with a actual mesh.

Probably would make performance a lot worse but i don't really care.

I rather lower my settings so that the game is less unbalance.

What i do find interesting is that pretty much people do not notice that.

Even when i talked to Vurt from flora overhal and he never notice that.

He sad that would take a look but he is kinda of busy with other stuff now.

Thats gotta be a way to fix that.

I know it's an old post but I noticed that magic light, like mage-light or candle-light, DOES cast light on otherwise black grass at nights.

So, knowing this, maybe it's possible to create torches that call the a "magic-light" function?

Changing disabling/enabling below lines in skyrimprefs.ini may help

bTreesReceiveShadows =1

bDrawLandShadows =1

bDrawShadows =1

bShadowsOnGrass =1

I would start with last one first then the second, if last one doesn't work.

1 is for enabling and 0 is for disabling.

Suggestion: use quick light mod, it gives you lantern or magelight which sticks with you indefinitely unless toggled off
