[Newbie] Armor Mash-up using Outfit Studio, inventory CTD when in game

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I am new to modding in general I have never made an outfit or used programs associated with it, and I am trying to learn things. I wouldn't usually ask for help as I know it can be annoying ^^; but I am genuinely stuck. If its important I run everything through mod organiser, So as a run down of what I have done so far:

[Outfit Studio - Im using CBBE body]

I used vanilla meshes [already coverted to cbbe] and imported them into outfit studio.

I added the other meshes I wanted after. (Its using Miner clothes, wench outfit, hide armor, mages college for satchel, and some alchemy ingredients)

Made the adjustments

Adjusted a texture and set it on them mesh (shows up fine)

I set the CBBE body as referance and conformed the other meshes, then copied bone weights

I manually brushed the last missing bits of bone weight (I had no more warning messages from outfit studio at this point)

[sSEdit]

I made an empty esp

used Hide armor, armor addon and armor to make new ones for my outfit

Changed names and added my nif to female (i left male as hide armor and 1st person as hide armor)

I also did the folder lay out for meshes and textures, kept in the calliente tools outfit studio makes and esp (7zipped)

So In game, I end up CTDing when I go over the item I added in the inventory, is there any general things that usually case this?

Edit: If needed I can screen cap stuff if thats easier.

Did you by any chance change the ground (world) model in the armor record? That seems to be a typical "ctd in inventory menu" cause if the ground model is still indicating it's skinned. It needs to be a static model.

Did you build your new mashup in Bodyslide? Does it show up properly in there? If I understand what you mean by your folder layout for the meshes and textures, they should not be in the caliente tools folder. Only the project you created to build it in Bodyslide should be in there.

Did you create a _0 and _1 version of your mashup? Differences in these nifs will cause CTD's. They need to be exactly the same.

That's about all the suggestions I have right now. Maybe if you post your mesh file somewhere so people can look at it directly it might help.

I have not changed the ground (world) model, as far as I know, can I do this in SSEdit? I will have a look.

Its built in bodyslide, outfit studio yes, it shows correctly there.

Apologies, I think I didn't say correctly about the folder lay out. I mean I set up the mod folder to be uploaded as I usually see it done so: Outfit Name (folder), then Caliente Tools (folder, does it need to be there?) meshes (folder) textures (folder) are all in the outfit name folder.

I copied the nif file created in outfit studio from caliente tools that was in mod organizers overwrite twice. I then renamed them outfitnamef_0 and outfitnamef_1 and placed them in the meshes folder

I will go through your suggestions first, then if it happens again I will post it :)

Thank you for your time <3

It turns out, you was correct, I changed the wrong nif I had changed the one in armor instead of armor addon. It now appears and equips ingame. I must thank you so much I am very appreciative, now I can see it ingame and can see what I need to fix.
