REALbp
I too thought that he was too indifferent to his own actions. He does however try to make amends, he even says as much as he walks down to the cave after giving you your Perk. Once you get to the kid, the kid says that all of the ants went crazy and killed each other; they did so because of Lesko. That said, he was trying to help, and like most actions in the wasteland there are consequences. If Lesko's research works and he is able to reduce all of the waste's ants back to their normal size, would that be worth the cost of 4 people's lives? I'm sure most of us have taken the lives of more than 4 people in game, simply to keep ourselves fed or our ammo stocked.

3rdtryguy
Two things: #1- to get some queen ant Pheromones for Amanda Staley, , just walk 15 paces to the Chemshop booth and buy some for cheap. #2- I don't get why so many people are so quick to waste Lesko. There is even a mod out now to make him officially very evil so you get good karma for taking him out. That's just crazy. Here we have the only guy in the world who seems to be willing and able to save thousands of people from the scourge of giant ants, and people wanna whack him just because his first attempt failed? So he isn't moping around and giving up just because he had a little setback. So what? That's not the way things get done. If anything, his preserverence to keep trying is only borne from a driving need to keep anyone else from having to meet the same fate as the Grayditchers.Wasting Lesko? That IS a waste indeed. To do so dooms future generations of people to have to contend with the horror of giant ants, and some people want GOOD karma for it?Oh, please... esrafael
Agreed. He screwed up, he admitted he screwed up, and he was trying to fix the error. He could have just bailed. That would have been worth wasting him for, but not staying and continuing to work.
link99912
I accepted the quest, didn't kill the queen (cuz it's just stupid to with the reward) then killed the queen and destroyed the mutagen (which is an option on the comp if you checked.) Also, he wasn't evil, he was trying to get them to shrink... He just made... A little mistake.
LostGirl
Well, the character I was playing at the time of meeting Lesko was a science-nut so he quickly shot Lesko down telling him how he should have followed scientific proceedures and all that. Aftwards, I accepted the quest to kill the guardians. Went down there, and the queen decided it was a good idea to attack Charon. Well, Charon blasted the damn thing away before I realized where he was. Then I simply returned to Lesko, told him the queen was dead, got the shot and knifed the male without a father for not following scientific procedures properly. :D I took this same route. I did let the good doctor live but I followed him some to to see what he was up too. I did let the Queen live also. Also, I found it funny that Charon does this, once even in Underworld. Anytime I would sale items and they would they take something away from me in the deal. I cant tell you how many times I forgotten to leave them outside when trading Sierra in Girdershade. Also for some reason in Rivet city at the market, they go off on the kid, I think he gets caught stealing. Wouldn't be the first time I had to leave him and my other followers at the door while I took care of my needs in the few towns of the waste land. Samcharles77
Personally I disagreed with the way Lesko did things. He tells you he took a shortcut in his experiments if you talk to him and have high enough science skill. There's a response that says [sCIENCE] next to it.He didn't accept responsiblity for the deaths on a morale level. He didn't have enough controls in his experiment. Imagine if the ants with the fire had gotten out and spread across the entire wasteland. He should have experimented with one ant in a closed environment first.Who's to say his next mutation won't cause something even worse to happen, for example, larger, stronger ants. This is actually not too far out of reach considering he wants to use shortcuts in his experiments. Honestly, I was going to let him live but he stepped on a mine I had forgotten about leftover from my fight with queen. After he did it seemed like the right thing so I left him that way.I received good karma for destroying his mutagen sample after he died and I took his remote computer that lets you logon to the terminal near the queen. I even destroyed his robot in the end to make sure any traces of the experiment were not leftover.
AlexisFox
I do remember telling him he was crazy. I didn't kill him. but I did kill his giant ant. then I persuaded him with speech that it was the right thing to do. So he agreed, and went back to the drawing board. I think he's still sitting in his shack thinking of some new way to shrink ants in my game. (And I still got the perk) Before I found out about Vera, I was disappointed I couldn't "adopt" Brian but at least you had a few extra options aside from leaving him in Grayditch.
