FelixTheCrazy
So I, like many other geeks, enjoy the idea of playing a Stephen King style gunslinger, but FO3 doesn't really lend itself to it completely. These are some things that I see missing/needed: Dual wielded pistolsOne handed reloading of pistolsCycled firing (all bullets fired from one gun and then while the first gun is being single hand loaded the other gun is fired)Dual firing (both guns are fired at the same time)Better/more pistols Speculation with out any understanding of how to mod:I'd guess that you could mirror the animations of hte right hand for the left to wield as 2nd gun. As well I'd assume that you could holster a 2nd gun on the left hip. I'd do the reload animation by simply holstering the gun and then pausing for a couple seconds while it's reloaded, then pull it out again. I'm assuming you might run into complications of coding 2 actuall guns so I figure it'd have be be coded as a single gun with the appearance of 2 guns. So that you'd pick up sets of guns, not single pistols. I'd also assume to have included in the mod that you aren't required to use the same exact type of gun to repair the Hard Calibers. So how possible is this sort of mod? Is it even fathomable with the lack of tools we hae currently?
Deleted187290User
In my opinion, as a person who knows firearms, Dual Wielding is rather pointless. And among firearms enthusiasts it is considered to be a poor practice. if you made one, add a realistic ballistics option so it has crappy accuracy(for me :3c). FelixTheCrazy
LOL, well this would be more for looks and style rather than reality.

Halsfield
who thinks of stephen king books when they hear the word "gunslinger" o_O? I tend to think of westerns, action movies, etc. I think max payne for pc is probably the best portrayal of a modern dual-pistol wielder that i tend to think of immediately. Not hating on your book choice, just thought it was odd that you went to that to describe a gunslinger =p. I'd love to see a mod like this, fallout 3 has a freakin hand-held nuke gun for christsake and you're talking about the realism of dual-wielded pistols not being effective? come on now. Maybe make them slightly less accurate than a single-wielded pistol but offer an ambidextrous perk that would eliminate it and make you able to use dual-wielded melee weapons too or even give you a small guns bonus when you have duals equipped. Obviously you would not be allowed to scope or right-click "aim" while dual'd because that would be impossible which is a draw-back in itself, but i think it would still be a lot of fun to see you blasting away with two pistols in vats. I think making V.A.T.S work with duals might be a challenge to make it actually read two different guns properly. It might be easier to simply make them count as one weapon, although if possible it would be incredibly cool to see you attacking 1 target with one pistol and another target with another pistol simultaneously in slow-mo. Deleted187290User
sorry, its just kinda lame and nerdy from my perspective.
FelixTheCrazy
"Kinda lame and nerdy"? I already stated it was a geek thing. As well there were plenty of people talking on the Beth boards about making a Gunslinger styled character before FO3 came out. But as FO3 makes it hard to play one, I wanted to see how feasable it would be to mod. There are a great many fans of the Dark Tower series, and much liike what people wanted to do for Oblivion with all of their story book characters, I'd like to do the same. CeremonyofOpposites
I'm just going to throw in a second to the motion of a Dark Tower GunslingerFallout 3 MOD. Anyone who's read the series can see that this would be a supreme opportunityto interact with the world from Roland Deschains point of view. Post apocalyptic desert world? Check.Weird creatures and demonic humanoids? Check.Surreal technology? Check. All that's missing is the Crimson King. I'd pay to see this.
jaysus
dual wielding is unreal? what about reloading a clip with one hand whilst holding a gun with the same... that only works if you just let the clip drop and have replacements ready on your chest or somin so you just need to place the gun ontop and slide down... still you would need to load... with one hand... funky... not to forget youre killing a bunch of ghouls meanwhile... IdoAlphaOmega
It would be possible to make this sort of mod, BUT it would require a bit of work. Scripting to fire the other gun every round-or-Scripting to fire each gun based on which mouse button is pressed-or-Animate it to fire both guns at the same time Mirroring the animation would work, BUT you would seriously be screwing up the way a gun works. The cylinder on a revolver should NOT rotate the other direction merely because it's in your left hand nor should a 1911 have its ejection port the left because it's in your left hand. In essence, if you wanted to do this properly, you'd some modelling to do but not much. As for reloading - what if only one of your guns needs to be reloaded? Would you script it to reload both or just the one?
