TheKussh
Next thing to come "Make your own orphanage " Mod Edited November 22, 2012 by TheKussh
Trucidation
That would actually be a good idea. Personally, while I kinda feel sorry for the orphans, I don't want them underfoot in my houses, seeing stuff that might traumatize them and interrupting sexy times with your followers. Plus I might get the urge to have them working, which might get me in trouble with the anti-slavery people. Being able to build an orphanage would be a great idea. You could do stuff like construct a classroom and hire a teacher for them, build a playground they can use (swings, see-saw, riding horse), etc. That would be awesome, you'd be the kind patron who saved them from the gutter and gave them new lives... instead of the creepy uncle who "rescued" them only to confine them in a house somewhere. FrankLeeDeRainged
I'd be interested in a different aproach (though I suspect it's unfeasable because of huge NPC re-scripting) What I'd like would be to adopt a orphan or two, teach or train them to a skill or skills, being as I'm master in several and master implies I'm suficiantly skilled to teach, no? Then enroll them in Winterhold or the bard's collage or get them taken on by a blacksmith or achemist. Then I could adopt some other deserving soul. . . The thing is my charicter at this point a very powerful mage (destruction, conjurarion, enchanting as well as smithing and being a dab hand with a couple of swords) the greater part of my problem is keeping my companions from being spit roasted during combat, this adds to the imersion when I'd otherwise be wading knee-deep through hords of pitiful bandits and tiesome draugr (you going to try a shout. . . on Me?) so having your own adopted children as companions - "just part of your training son" - would be great. As I say, I'm pretty hard to hurt at this point in my build so having the choice of an aditional vunerability would add interest. There are similar quests in other games I.e. Fallout 3 where you need to find a home for an orphan you rescue from fire breathing ants and another where you need to escort a spectaculaly anoying youth across the wastes to a haven. Probably not possible but just a thought.
Sherrid
I kind of like the idea of a school for orphanes... provide training/ teaching, shelter, food, gifts and supervision as an option..... although I would still like to adopt more children. Taking them out on my travels.... if I was as strong a character as FrankLee appears to be that would be an option, but right now it would be distracting since I would be too worried about them getting hurt. (yes I know they can't be killed and it is only a game... but it still bothers me. Even now I walk up to bandits and don't start killing unless they strike first. yeah yeah yeah, It's just the way I am.)
RozenDoll
reading from a few comments earlier, that's an interesting concept... having the additional children stay in different homes should be a feasible concept, just have to circumvent the "active home" scripts somehow, as i fear they could clash. rage0976
I've looked at this in the CK myself, and I'd have to say it's beyond my skill at this point. Maybe when I become a little more familiar with the scripts used that will change, but for the time being I'm afraid I'd simply screw things up if I tried. It seems there are many variables in many scripts that have to be cross referenced to adjust the adoption cap, so it would cost even the most skilled modder/scripter time and effort, and I imagine a good bit of headache medicine to make it work. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it WILL take a very highly skilled and knowledgeable person with a good bit of time on his/her hands to see this mod brought to life. I would gladly be one of the first in line to download it if it happens, but I think it'll be a while before we get this mod due to the amount of work, patience, skill, and knowledge it will require to create. mitchellbailey1
maybe the answer lies within a mod called "Adopt a child" by Praveen. if that mod could be tweeked to fit the hearthfire criteria, then all we would need to do is add an extra bed to the player homes. I know that the house in solitude has some weird empty room in the basement which would be perfect for a new room. hope this helped

ebird
However this post is a bit old, but for the new seeker, I should mention that fortunately there is a mod for this problem called "Hearthfire multiple adoptions - Now with custom home support for kids and spouse" by TMPhoenix. This mod allows you to adapt up to 6 children.I have tested it myself and it works fine: I have just adopted the flower girl in the Windhelm! Note that you need v1.9 to run it. This mod allows you to adapt up to 6 children.I have tested it myself and it works fine: I have just adopted the flower girl in the Windhelm! Note that you need v1.9 to run it. I've just downloaded this mod, seems it only works on a new game though which is a shame but at least I've got it for my next restart. Sophie in Windhelm seems to be getting us all! I started looking for a mod after meeting her!
