A unique bug involving texture mods and maybe windows 10

so... yeah this is in the skyrim mod troubleshooting thread, but so far this has applied to fallout 4, skyrim se, and oldrim

 

i recently installed windows 10 and now it seems like the game crashes when i install certain texture mods, but only SOME. i installed ground texture mods and the game was fine but i installed face textures and i get an instant CTD. same happens with trees in my FO4. if i uninstall every texture mod my game works alright but i'd REALLY like to play with my pretty modded textures

 

it's a weird bug and it might be a win 10 thing and i would love help with this
