PsychoThruster
One of the many things that bothers me with Bethesda's fallout games is their floaty weapons that hover next to the player. I know of one mod which adds a holster apparel item to the game, but it is only for the player character and it only works well with a few of the pistols. Not to mention clipping galore! What I am wondering is if it would be more practical(for the purposes of this request) to modify the vanilla weapons to include a modeled holster and proper animations for each individual weapon. Similar to how the bullets are modeled inside of the guns, the guns could be modeled inside of the holster, and be able to move independently of it, yet still be a single model. Does that make sense? It seems to me this would avoid most of the clipping issues with different armors as the attachment points do not need to be altered. I have no experience with anything related to game creation, just a lot of ideas. Like everyone else here I imagine. The way I envision it working is that you get a weapon just like you normally would in vanilla, but when you equip it, it appears on your character in a holster that fits properly to the character. So that in the game it is just one item; the weapon. I imagine this would be quite labor intensive, but I think it would be quite a nice addition and add to immersion. Ideally it could be done in such a way that other modders could make their custom weapons and custom textures compatible without too much fuss. FOMOD support would be preferable, and I don't see there being any compatibility issues with other mods that don't alter gun models or textures. So are there any modders out there interested? If this will not work, I would like an explanation as to why. It will influence any future ideas I may decide to post here. -Thanks.
