Pantheress
I know nothing about hex editing nor much about textures. I am familiar with basics of a CS but lack a functional CS for Fallout. Trying to get morrowind or Oblivion CS to open using FO3 as Master has failed miserably. I am wanting to see sniper editions of the energy weapons. Seems a shame that only small guns have scopes but energy weapons have nothing of the sort. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated and a Modder who would like to attempt this would be welcomed. ^^ Sincerely, Pantheress
jaysus
should be possible with the hex editor techniques described in that tutorial somewhere around here...but to be honest the scopes in this game are a joke lol
Pantheress
True but they are a hell of a lot better than the cross hair aiming. I can actually SEE the enemy through the scopes before I EVER could visually down the 'sights' of the weapons. Edit: Another thing that would be nice to see on the normal sniper rifle is a silencer that makes it where the enemy could not hear me either. I personally love how the silenced 10mm works when you focus on small guns skill. :P 1 Stealth boy+High sneak+ 10mm Silenced+high smallguns skill= Exploding heads....:P
kapro
I'm a newbie to modding, especially Fallout 3 modding. I do have sort of an idea on how to do it though. Try exporting a copy of the sniper rifle from the game's main esm file. Model your new weapon using this tutorial. Edit the necessary parts of the exported sniper rifle in FOMM using this tutorial. Do all the other stuff from that tutorial as well. Don't forget to change the Projectile Type under DNAM in FOMM to "Projectile Type: 00014B0F: PROJ (BeamLaserProjectile)" and the Critical SPEL Effect under CRDT to "Critical SPEL Effect: 000BDA30: SPEL (LaserDisintegrationFXSpell)" in FOMM. Once someone figures out scripting, you can probably get rid of the annoying wobble effect that the scope has (I'm pretty sure it's scripted). If anyone sees any flaws in my idea, please point them out. Also, if you give me the model, sounds, and textures you want (all ready to work in Fallout 3), I'll take a shot at it (I suck at modeling and photoshop/gimp). Pantheress
As it stands the only thing I could suggest for models ext is the standard sniper rifle from ingame. Mainly because I do not have a program for creating models.

kapro
Okay, I've created a basic working sniper laser rifle for you: http://lodezilla.com/fo3mods/kap000SniperLazorV0.1advertisment.png I decided to go with the laser rifle model. At a later date, I will modify the rifle model itself to have a scope and different textures. I'm also thinking of modifying what is used to repair it (either laser rifles or sniper rifles) to include both of those and the "Sniper Lazor" itself. Another thing I will add at a later time is a schematic for it. It uses microfusion cells as ammo and works the same way that the sniper rifle does. It can also get headshots and disintegrate people (just like the other laser weaponry ). Unfortunately, for now, I am unable to do anything about the wobbling scope. If I can, I will fix that later. The readme will tell you how to install it and get it in the game. Download it here: KaproKorp Sniper Lazor
Pantheress
Thanks HEAPS. ^^ Will have fun with this one. ^^ Also trying to figure out how to create unique item codes on FOMM but not exactly sure how to do so. Though the version I am working on is a redone style of the Victory Sniper rifle but as I said doesn't want to let me add a unique ID for importation. Am currently working on a plasma version but again no idea how to add a unique ID in game. This is what I have so far. Feel free to give me any feedback and tweak it as You see fit because I am at a loss. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=
kapro
I'd check it out, but: "This author has requested for this file to be blocked from viewing for the time being". The adding new weapons tutorial (buried in this forum somewhere) tells you how to make it unique.
Pantheress
Yah I accidently cliicked a wrong button, first time to upload something and no idea how to change it after upload :wallbash: Also have the edit new weapons tutorial open in a different tab. Thank god for Mozilla firefox. :P Anywho am completely at a loss as to exactly where am supposed to change unique ID at. Am still learning FOMM at the moment. @.@ Just now figured out how to set it up for Master file. Maybe now it won't crash my damn game on loading of the plugin. Now to figure out how to get unique ID and have it made for actual ingame testing. Edit: Nvm I switched it so you should be able to access and view the file now. Edit2: Got it a unique ID Reuploading Modified File for testing. Should in theory work with F03 Now :)
