Applying Blood (or other) decals to ground or furniture.

Recommended Posts

I cant figure this out. Tried several times to place some blood splatter decals in the basement of Concord Speakeasy along with some set dressing pieces. The blood decals are no-where to be seen in CK until I adjust positions of x,y,z axis. then finally it might show up, sliding up the wall, or partially on a furniture surface. How do you just place them on the floor? found nothing from google about this and the CK page about decals really doesn't mention much.

I notices most on the floor in that area has decals already of rubbish etc. Can there only be one decal type placed down?

CK it such a cumbersome tool All I keep doing is selecting ground mist or a wall panel etc and accidentally moving it while trying to add these damn decals. Should I just use Xedit and swap the original trash decals for a blood reference? I was trying to avoid editing vanilla records..

Idk, this is the first real thing I have spent couple of days on (on and off) and not eventually figured out.

Just turn them to the Floor.

Right, it's a tool, not a toy.

If you want to do a chainsaw massacre, you have first to learn how a chainsaw works: read the manual, observe the safety regulations, wear your personal protective equipment.

All I keep doing is selecting ground mist

Turn off the layer with the ground mist.

Decals have a marker attached to move them, so you'll need to toggle markers to be visible to move decals around. Some cells will have the decal markers show as a blue triangle, some will be shown as a primitive. There's an option to toggle the marker display option in the Projected Decal tab of the decal reference window, as well as numerical values to control the height and width. I personally prefer using the blue arrows to position decals.

If there is an FX layer with mist, dust, etc. just hide it. I suggest freezing (locking) all vanilla layers and use a new layer to add your decals and any other items to. That will drastically reduce the chances that you'll nudge something you don't want to and make a dirty edit.

Decals are found under Miscellaneous/TextureSet in the Object window. Filter for "DecalBlood" to find the blood related ones.
