SKSE64 and SkyUI not running again 2020

Yesterday evening everything was just fine, today I get SkyUI error code 1, about SKSE64 not running. I'm curious, since I haven't used these mods a lot before. Is this something that happens often?

EDIT: So I discovered that this is something that happens only when I try to run the game through Vortex. Starting the game by using SKSE64_loader from my desktop works as normal.

Download and install skse64 2.0.17 from silverlock.org, then download and install SkyUI 5.2 SE from nexus. Launch game from skse64_loader.exe.

If you do not care why ask?

I'm having this problem as well. I have the correct version of SKSE 64 installed in the correct folder, and when I try to launch the game from the SKSE 64 it opens up the console for 0.1 seconds and then closes, without launching anything. If i launch the game via vortex then the game loads but fails to load any of my mods. Any advice?

If the game won't launch when you try to start it with SKSE64, your installation of SKSE64 isn't correct (version of SKSE64 doesn't match the game AND/OR plugins designed for previous versions of SKSE, that weren't updated).

Although I'm not certain, that sounds familiar... make sure Steam is running and you're logged in (even if you have it set for offline mode)

Yep. For the SKSE64-launcher to work, Steam needs to be running already.

Regarding starting the game from Vortex or NMM: I never understood why people would want do this or why this option exists at all. If you want to change your mods, start your mod manager. If you want to play the game, start it the normal way (or with SKSE, if you're using it). Having Vortex or NNM running in the background won't do any good, it could even lower performance because it eats up system ressources.

Me neither. I just use a shortcut from the SKSE source directory. Much easier (imo). But many younger folk were raised in a game console world and prefer the "magic buttons" from a single app because it's what's most familiar to them, (even if they're running on a PC where they can choose not to do it that way.)

I recently came back to Skyrim and set everything up from scratch. SKSE64 and SkyUI seem to be working perfectly except that every time I start a game they come up with a pile of error messages which among other things tell me that SkyUI is not recognising the version of SKSE. Yet all the mods that need them are working fine. What is going on?

The only oddity I have noticed since starting to use these is that the Stewards are no longer able to offer me houses for sale, so that I can only be Thane of Whiterun.

I suddenly found that SKSE64 would not work and that all my folders have had Read/Write permissions altered.

Still haven't figiured out the access permissions but I DID discover that the Ransomware App was what was blocking SKSE64.

Disabled that security protocol and SKSE64 now works again.

I recently paid for a full version of TotalAV and I've had nothing but trouble since.

Uninstalled it and looking for alternatives.

Hope the Ransomware solution helps someone!
