TheHermit84
I had the same glitch with one of my characters. After digging around in the Creation Kit for a few hours, I found some console commands which allowed me to finish the Dark Brotherhood questline. Before attempting any of these commands, save your game just in case they make things worse. If the courier never shows up with the Dark Brotherhood note and you don't get kidnapped while sleeping after completing "Innocence Lost", open the console and type: setstage DBEntranceQuest 20The courier should now show up and you should now be kidnapped while sleeping. If, after completing the first 3 contracts for Nazir, Cicero never shows up and Astrid does not give you the quest "Mourning Never Comes", first, exit the sanctuary, then open the console and type in the following commands. I had to enter them one at a time; running them in a batchfile would not work for me. prid 0001E64A enable prid 0001E648 enable prid 0001BDE8 moveto 0001E64C prid 0001E64A moveto 0001E64B prid 0001BDE7 moveto 0002EE3D prid 0001D4BB moveto 0002EE3E prid 0001C3AE moveto 0008D294 prid 0001BDEB moveto 0001D23E prid 0001D4BC moveto 0008D295 prid 00015CF4 enable setpqv DarkBrotherhood CiceroArrive_var 1Then, enter the sanctuary and the Cicero arrival scene should play out and Astrid should give you the quest "Mourning Never Comes".Before talking to Astrid after completing "Mourning Never Comes", open the console and type: setpqv DarkBrotherhood CiceroTalk1_var 2This should make the scene where you spy on Cicero play correctly. After the scene where you spy on Cicero, I didn't need to use the console again to finish the Dark Brotherhood questline. The only other anomaly I noticed is that volumes 1-4 of Cicero's journal didn't show up in the sanctuary. They are not critical to the main Dark Brotherhood quest, but if you really want to read them, you can add them to your inventory using the following console commands: player.additem 0009DABE 1 player.additem 0009DAC1 1 player.additem 0009DAC4 1 player.additem 0009DAC5 1Good luck! Worked wonderfully! Thank you!

tahaster
This worked for me perfectly and I think it's because I killed the orphanage lady before talking to Aventus. That was the first time I did that after 3 play throughs. The quest line got royally messed up after that but this fix worked perfectly. Thanks, man! woodsman30
It is a skyrim bug even playing on a xbox or play station it happens randomly so it is not a mod conflict. For your current play through console commands are the only option sad to say.

Sciron524, your fix worked beautifully! I'd been so frustrated and sad thinking I would have to try and use commands to skip the quest, but thanks to your detailed explanation I was able to trigger Cicero's arrival and continue with the quests, uninterrupted thus far. You even added a way of getting the first 4 volumes of Cicero's journal for us book collectors and story-lore addicts! I can't thank you enough you have literally saved my game!!! :)

vargali
i know this is old and my comment will necro this topic, but "Mourning never comes" seems completely stuck.. ive tried various commands to reset/set/start the quest... where im stuck at is ive killed the first 3 victims, returned to the sanctuary to see Cicero there jabbin his gums.. after words Astrid starts talking to me, but no click over of the quest even after she has stated i have the quest... all she does is repeat.. and commands wont advance or start the quest either... let me be clear... unlike everyone else.. Cicero did show up....
