MyDogsTale
For the longest time i have suffered from sleep deprivation. medication, acupuncture, working out, and many other things won't help. So, im wondering if any other people on this forum has experienced the same, and if they got around it, how did they? The time where i should be sleeping is mostley used playing bass guitar, looking up strange and often insane sites on the internet, or watching TV...and apart from the bass playig it is getting quite annoying Any tips would be more than welcome :)
Malchik
You need to find out how much sleep you need. I sleep 5 hours, occasionally four, and have for years. Pills can knock me out but I've found it better to accept that is what I need and cope with the difference. I am most creative early in the morning, so I often use the time between waking up (4-5 am) and getting ready for work (7.30 am) to learn lines or write. So my advice - find a creative hobby you really like - then you won't be annoyed at being awake!
ohGr
heh, i got the same problem too, and im only 15....although, i dont know if thats messed up or not... i have days where i wake up at around 3am and cant sleep at all, i have days where i cannot sleep at all, so i sit up all night finding something to do (i ended up going out at 4am one time...strange people you end up seeing) and i feel fine during school and all, this seems to give me an advantage (study and all, heh). i cant seem to get rid of this problem though, its been occuring for 2 years now and it keeps getting worse, ive felt so braindead sometimes i've had to take sleeping tablets just to clock in a few hours, dont know what could be causing it though...could be something psycological? Ember
Hi MyDogsTale, I've had bouts of sleep deprivation over the past few years, sometimes lasting for months at a time. Its horrible, my dad used to come down at seven and I'd be in the kitchen reading, having not been to bed. There are a variety of possible causes, but the most common contributing factors are poor daily routine and emotional anxiety. Of course, once the problem starts, its nigh on impossible to regain a regular routine of getting up and going to bed, as it only throws your biological clock further afield. My advice, assuming its not a physical problem, is to have a way of going to bed that is relaxed and free from visual stimuli - spending hours on the computer and then attempting to sleep is a bad idea, for example. There should be an hour or so before you sleep where you're not watching tv, using a computer or around large groups of people. Sleeping pills are only effective to an extent, and remediees such as acupunture are only workable if the problem relates to physical manifestations of stress. In other words - it's a problem thats very subjective. Its important to find out why the problem is occuring, and to give your body a chance to sort itself out. These are just solutions that I found worked well for me, so don't take anything as gospel! I hope you manage to sort it out. :) Regards, Ember. Faust870
Now I'm not sure if this is breaking the TOS... so i wont say specifics... I, from time to time, have troubles sleeping,... and what I do to help me through my troubled night... is to do something Illegal, but its legal in Amsterdam... It makes me comfortable and tired... If this is at all inappropriate... I apologize, its just what helps me when I have trouble...
MyDogsTale
I, from time to time, have troubles sleeping,... and what I do to help me through my troubled night... is to do something Illegal, but its legal in Amsterdam... It makes me comfortable and tired... If this is at all inappropriate... I apologize, its just what helps me when I have trouble... Now, there is another way...i will PM a web page to you so that you do WON'T be illegal, (but i will reframe from posting it here, since im not sure of if it breaks the TOS...plus the fact that alot of kids hang out here) Your way has been tested, believe me, but it can have undesierable effects if taken too much (as in all medication), so maybe once in a while, but nothing more.tonight i'll follow Embers advice, chill out for an hour, put on some very relaxing music and lay down, and see if it works :)
Zmid
For the longest time i have suffered from sleep deprivation. medication, acupuncture, working out, and many other things won't help. Does it actually have any detrimental effect on you? If not, why bother trying to solve it? Myself, I sleep around 4 hours a night, but, when I wake up, I feel completely refreshed and sane(ish :P ), so I don't give it any thought, and this has been true for about 10 years now. If it does have a detrimental effect, I would suggest seeing your family doctor to get yourself checked out and see if he has any ideas.
Faust870
All of you sleep for very short hours... Why is this? I sleep for over 8-13 hours a night :D
