ginnyfizz
*Pops head above parapet* To be honest when every configuration is different, everyone will have a different experience. I am just looking at my Bulldozer idling at 16C. Yes, that's right. And it doesn't get above about 25C when playing Skyrim or other games. I only have the stock cooler on the CPU, but I DO have a Coolermaster HAF X case that is like a fridge. So I don't think the Bulldozers can always be labelled as heat pigs. I also get good service out of my 6970 card - apart from the RAM it was the only part of my rig that survived the death by power spike disaster of a few weeks back. Thor.
I have a Antec Twelve hundred gaming case that cools everyone just nicely. though i wish it had more then two pci slots. http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/teehee.gif My two 7950's idles around the 36c mark, the lowest I've seen it 25c. My CPU sits at idle around 25-28 degrees, but I believe thats only about four or five degrees above my ambient room temperature. My queen, either your room is very chilly, or you have placed a condenser on your CPU. Which I should add, would be some mod..
ginnyfizz
I don't know what the ambient room temperature is, certainly not cold, as the central heating is on this time of year, and due to the arthritis I don't do cold rooms. But the outside of my case is very cold to the touch, and those temperatures are being reported by CoreTemp. By contrast, with the 1100T that failed (along with almost everything else) I was getting reboots due to "CPU over temperature", and CoreTemp was recording that now dead CPU as idling at a rather worrying 57-60C. Nothing modded on the Bulldozer, honest! Just efficient case fans and stock cooler.
Thor.
My 1100T is a cool 30C along with my idle temps of my video cards. I never had a over heat or blue screen with it. Probably one of the most reliable cpu's i have ever owned, its overclocked as well to 3.8ghz. I almost feel sad Upgraded to the latest fx-8350, although a 5ghz overclock does sound nice.http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/thumbsup.gif Edited November 16, 2012 by Thor. The case/CPU temperature can't be under the room temperature, as that would mean your case is literally a refrigerator. So what does this mean? Either you have a PC that is possessed by a Frost Atronach or your mobo sensors are busted. Edited November 16, 2012 by kalikka
ginnyfizz
Well I don't know how well you are going to be able to see this but here is the screen of it;- http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l255/janepreddy/CoreTemp-Scr.png And there isn't anything wrong with my motherboard, which is also new - I DID mention that only the video card and the RAM survived the meltdown, did I not? Temperature went up under load as I mentioned, oddly when I opened GIMP went a bit higher than when gaming, but still idling at low temps. I said I have no idea what the ambient temperature of my room is, but the heating is on. By all means call around my place if you don't believe me. I know I am telling the truth and do not appreciate your implication that I am not.
kalikka
Im not saying that you are lying, its just that the mobo sensors (or the program) are giving false information. The 14C idle is not possible if your room temperature is not lower than the 14C, whatever you may say. I would guess the numbers are off by at least 10C, my 3570k idle is around 32-41C with Kühler H2O 620 @push/pull. Try other programs, like HWiNFO64 or similar. Some programs don't work well with certain mobos -> giving false readings. The HWiNFO64 can tell the temperatures for each of the physical cores, not just the "package" temps. AND, most of the cores are not in use while idle. And most of the games can only use 2-4cores.So ofc the cores that are not in use show low temps, but if you only watch the temps of those unused cores you are just lying to yourself....
