legir
I'm not sure whether this case only happens on some people or a majority of people are having issues with this. The problem I'm having with the Creation kit right now is whenever I edit values such as NPC stats or custom companion stats everything seems to go well and it even saves in the creation kit without errors but whenever I go in game, the changes made are non-existent. The edited values remain the same as if I didn't even edit them, this problem just recently surfaced. I've had no problems with the Creation kit before, just now. Anyone know what is wrong or how to fix this? EDIT: Additional problem: My character also seems to have lost the ability to do kill moves ever since the update. I also use TDoD (The Dance of Death) Latest version. Edited November 13, 2012 by legir
KingsGambit
If you've made the changes and saved them to an esp file, there are a couple of reasons why the changes may not be observable in-game. The mod needs to be activated in the launcher's "Data Files" section to ensure it's being loaded. If that is already the case, then the changes are being negated elsewhere. Put your mod to the very bottom of your load order and note if it begins working. If it does, another mod you have has changed the same NPCs. If it doesn't, it's something else changing the values. It could be that they're stored in your save game, or an in-game quest/item/etc is changing them. Are you positive they aren't showing up? You can use GetAV and GetAVInfo using the ingame console to return values. I don't remember whether it's uses the ref ID or the base ID...you get one by clicking on them with the console open. The other is found by using help "npcname" 4 in the console. Try xxxxx.getav lightarmor for example and see if maybe the changes are being made. legir
Thanks for replying. I've tried changing the load order before but to no avail. I believe it may have something do with my save game, though I've been doing this before with no problems. If it's from my save game is there anyway to refresh it in order for the new values to take effect? Yeap I've done a couple of test to prove that they aren't showing up, also tried using the getav command (Thanks for that!) but the stats are still the same. I just hope this can be fixed so I won't resort to re installing. EDIT: I have just confirmed that it is indeed my save game that has been negating all the values I set. Is there any way to fix this? OakRain
It is a general rule that you cannot use the Creation Kit to modify games in progress. The only sure way to see your changes take effect is to start a new game with the new mod enabled.Or a save that has not met the NPC in question. For broken kill moves and other animation troubles try FNIS.Install using the instructions provided and then run FNISForUsers.exe.Should make everything work properly again. legir
This is quite weird. I probably got lucky before since I was always editing values on NPC's yet still getting the change in game with my save game in progress. I think I'll just modify their stats in game using "setav" I guess this will do for now. I already have FNIS. I'll try to re run FNISForUsers.exe and see if that fixes the problem. Thanks! EDIT: FNIS didn't solve the problem. Though I forgot to mention that I still get crossbow kill moves ever since this problem started. steve40
It is a general rule that you cannot use the Creation Kit to modify games in progress. Of course you can, otherwise it would not be possible to add new mods to a game in progress  You just won't see any changes immediately on an NPC or object that was already loaded, you have to wait for the item/npc to unload/reload/reset. You can usually achieve this by fast travelling far away and back again.
legir
You sir, have given me hope. Thank you, I will try doing what you said and do you know of any other ways to reload/reset items and npcs? Just in case fast travelling and waiting in game doesn't really do it for me. OakRain
@steve40 - I was thinking more in terms of trying to edit persistent references and various other things that get baked into a save game.
