Thor.
I found a interesting benchmark for the 8350, by the looks of it its a big improvement. http://www.overclockers.com/amd-fx-8350-piledriver-cpu-review You never know this chip might save them They managed to get it up to a whopping 7ghz. http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/blink.gif http://www.overclockers.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/fx-8350cold-05-300x196.jpg

Then consider the intel chips are at lower native clocks and have less cores. Also, getting to 7ghz is no accomplishment. Look at how much they had to do to get there. And you will note the clock is not stable. They merely got the chip to stay there long enough in LN2 mode so they could say they did. You and I could never hope to get near there, and if we can't the average user sure as hell won't be either. Also, it is totally meaningless to not get a stable overclock. To me, this is like people judging any kind of GPU by its highest FPS in any given game. Sure the chip can get there, but can it stay there? When I was looking for a new GPU I looked at the minimum FPS certain games got with various video cards. In tech, everything is graded by its lowest common denominator. This is why in WEI your computer is rated by its slowest part. In most cases the HDD.

Erik005
The whole experience on a pc is made by the HDD anyway, processors are overpowered since the Intel core i series came along. If you want just want simple office tasks you get an atom or an AMD E350/450 board I once had a laptop powered by a core i3-330m and it was so dreadfully slow I was going to sell it. I put in my older Intel ssd to sell it and it felt as fast as my current desktop in windows, internet and office tasks that really puts things in perspective. I only bought my current socket 2011 system because I was bored and had 800euros to spend. Edited November 21, 2012 by Erik005

You mean low bandwidth like PATA? The slow read and write to a 5400rpm laptop drive ruins performance, these drives don't fill the SATA I bus.
