CyborgNinja Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 The post apocalypse looks so much vibrant when the clouds are huge and a dark orange color. I would love to have a replace sky box that is more nuked out the the grey skies that came with the default game. I looked for a pic but will have to post that later.please post pics of nuked out skies for inspiration. :)
xchapelx Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Is this the type of thing you mean? http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/6504/nuclearskyfj8.th.jpg I'm never sure how much intensity the red/orange should have. I tried it once and it looked like I was in hell.
CyborgNinja Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 Yeah sure thats what I am looking for. You should see about making that a mod. I would advise releasing 2 or 3 files and have diferent adjustments. the one where you said you looked like you were in hell sounds awesome. :)
CyborgNinja Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 Could you tell me where you changed that please?
xchapelx Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Fallout - Textures.bsa - /textures/sky/urbancluodovercastlower01.ddsurbancloudovercastupper02.ddswastelandcloudcloudylower01.ddswastelandcloudcloudyupper01.dds A bug I'm having atm is that these two also need to be changed but as soon as I load them in PS and save them again they become corrupted. I'm unsure how to fix this so the horizon remains grey. :wallbash: wastelandcloudhorizon01.ddswastelandcloudhorizon02.dds A darker red version...http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/2909/nuclearskyus9.th.jpg
CyborgNinja Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 I dont know how to get into those files I guess cuz I cant find them. It is looking good :)
xchapelx Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Download ScripterRons FO3Archive Utility. Fallout - Textures.bsa is in your Fallout 3/Data directory. Decompress it to get the files. You then need an image app that supports .dds textures to view modify the files (I use Photoshop CS2 - this needs a plugin) Go nuts, retex whatever you want.
CyborgNinja Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 thats a lot to swallow, atm Iam just glad that there is at least 1 person here trying to nuke out the skies. When I get some time I will be tinkering around with textures. I hope i dont screw anything up. lol
