faith87
i got the german version of fallout 3, textures, menus, meshes ... are stored as .bsa .so i had to unpack them, overwrite some textures, repack them into .bsa overwriting the default fallout 3 textures bsa with the edited one. but now fallout doesnt start anymore :-/ used the smart check function of the archive invalidation validator by zerox007, which was creating a blank archiveinvalidation file.so i used another validator, which just read out folders and files contained in the data folder but of course there are just some bsa files and a music and shaders folder. is the archiveinvalidation the reason, my game doesnt start anymore or did i vulk up something else maybe ? btw i restored the backed up default bsa files so they're just like they were before "modding" them. i hope you did understand what im talking about cuz i dont play the german version just for fun ^^
jaysus
does it crash right at the start or upon loading a mod? upon loading a mod: textures, meshes and/or other game content is corruptedupon start: you deleted a global item like the shaders folder (or just one of its files) a corrupt archiveinvalidation.txt (you really need no tool for that xcept you have dozens of files to entry its a simple textdocument with pathfiles) usually just creates texture errors of all kinds but try deleting it before you reinstall completely and your english really aint bad dude lol... no need to play a german version ;) ... but generally: you dont need to repack your textures into a bsa... that most likely corrupted the game imo... just place em in your data/path-in-the-bsa/ and give em entries in the archiveinvalidation the archiveinvalidation is the thing that lets the game recognize that u have files in your data folder which replace the bsa packed textures... if these textures are not found in the unpacked folders youll get a problem of some kind as it doesnt read the bsa files anymore ach mist pass auf lol:die archiveinvalidation macht die gepackten dateien ungültig wodurch die ungepackten gelesen werden, wenn diese allerdings nicht existieren (zB weil du die gepackt hast) können ohne ende fehler auftreten wie du dir denken kannst... hoffe das hilft ;)
faith87
ah wtf... you speak german ?! ill answer in english anyway ^^ well i also got the english version, but im afraid i wouldn't understand everything correctly especially when there r no subtitles when playing audio logs ... by the way they r played damn quietly so i have to turn up the volume to the max and listen to it very carefully O.o and i think the audio logs aren't even affected by turning up fx,voice or music volume in sound options anyway ?! tried so... i think... alright, the game crashes on startup with this usual problem sending thing for microsoft, creating a log file that no one understands. so i really must have messed somethin up but wont find out what cuz i replaced quite a lot o stuff. ok i think ill reinstall the game, unpack the bsa's and validate everything, like everyone? does... like mentioned in every readme file i read so far.hope it works cuz cant wait to see the updated textures n stuff. :thanks: so far :]
jaysus
you really dont need to unpack the bsas at all (makes the game slower)... just place your new textures in the path according to your bsa archivee.g. weapons/1handpistol.dds would go to data/textures/weapons/1handpistol.ddsand then write down that path in the archiveinvalidation.txt seperated with a break (neue zeile)like that: weapons/1handpistol.ddsweapons/1handpistol_n.dds etc mind the path is relative to the data folder so you dont need to put c:\programme\fallout\data there
faith87
damn it should have read your post yesterday, so i wouldnt have been unpacking all bsa's xDwell unpacking them didnt even took al lot of time but let this archiveinvalidation validator run through about 19000 files :wallbash: took like 3 hours or something *lol* well meanwhile i was completing Dead Space on Impossible Mode :whistling: the modded version worx now ^^ but i think ill take the backed up bsa's and just copy and validate new files like u mentioned, cuz now i have the problem "deinstalling" files, not mentioned in the readme without restoring the complete folder O.o of course i could search an pick them out....... but after all now i understand how to mod the game, correctly ^^ thx
