Hearthfire Game Crashes

I am now at wits end. Upon approaching Lakewood Manor my game crashes. From any direction walking, riding, can't fast travel, as soon as I get into area...bang. Game Over. I tried reinstalling Skyrim losing some mods, all to know avail. After some research under Unofficial Hearthfire Bug Fixes, it notes that their "no known solutions". Anyone have any ideas?

 

I wanted to uninstall Hearthfire, and reinstall, but alas that too seems impossible. Other two home are fine.

Have you made a backup & tried using TES5Edit to clean Update.esm, and Dawnguard.esm/HearthFires.esm? Hearthfires would not run for me until I cleaned both uopdate.esm & HearthFires.esm :(

Thank you. I went ahead and followed your advice. I downloaded TES5Edit and "automatically cleaned three different mods including update.esm and Hearthfire. I followed instructions to the letter however now Skyim will not start up. It synchronizes all the files and then just sits there. Not sure what to do next. Tried loading game through Nexus and Steam, game just hangs and does nothing. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the delay.

I'm assuming your load order is set (mostly) by BOSS, correct?

Have you tried loading a different save? At that point I'd start thinking it's possible that some saves are compromised. I would start a new game to test that. I had one bad save that wouldn't let me in dragonsreach --- I feel your pain :(

Started a new game and it still happens that is after I re-installed Skyrim. I have noticed though that when visiting the Thane of Falkreath he does not ask me to get him mead, which appears that Quest was cut short. He asks me right a way to the Bandits, and then he allows me to purchase the land. You mentioned BOSS which I have not used. Do you have a url for that? I'll try it. I searched earlier but could not find a site for download.
