The company has a responsibility to manage its costs and profits to ensure that the company can remain in business, bonuses should not even be considered unless you have suitable profits. The union has a responsibility to those workers to ensure safe and fair practices towards workers, even in the case of a strike, the union should still do all it can to ensure that as many people retain their employment and well-being. These days, unions are almost as corrupt as the companies they negotiate with. They use employees as political tools, take in a substantial amount of money in union dues to pay their staff exceedingly well, and seem to be more concerned in maintaining their position of control, instead of allowing both the company and the employees the ability to function safely and effectively.
