Changes aren't applied despite last slot in load order

Hi,

I need some general ideas here. There is this mod "Walk like a normal person", it only makes one change. It sets "fFastWalkInterpolationBetweenWalkAndRun" from 0.15 to 0.0, which allegedly has the effect that the slow walk is as fast as the fast walk (which would be a godsend).

There are people in the forum section of the mod for which it has worked, i installed it today -> no change. okay, maybe for whatever reason there is a mod after it, changing the same value, so i forced it to the very bottom of the load order, just to test this, but still no change, walk speed still as slow as a turtle, barely faster than sneak speed.

i opened the mod in xedit, just to take a look, but everything seems okay.

 

I also openend all plugins in xedit, just to doublecheck that no other plugin changes this record and i checked which mods alter movement type values (only one does and it just increases the backrun value.

Now, why doesn't it work for me? The only thing left in line would be scripts, no? But I honestly have no idea which script would do that. Anyways below you'll find my load order as spoiler, maybe someone else sees something there to shine a light on this.

What is your player payload? Or said another way, how much stuff is your player carrying? If it's over the limit you will almost certainly slog along like a turtle. If it is over the limit and you want to fix that, player.modav (or player.setav) carryweight <some value well above your current load weight> will fix that. modav will make that change permanent, setav is only active for the duration of your current play session. You can also download certain mods that provide an amulet or other item that pads the player's carryweight, like the one I have that adds a 9000 weight units to your load abilities.

 

FTR, I have the Walk like a normal person mod installed. It's worked just as expected since day one. All it does is set your walking speed to the same one used by NPCs, so that you're not continually playing catch-up with them. It doesn't make you power walk or jog, just walk a little bit faster than vanilla walking speed for the player (*which is just a little slower than most or all NPCs)

 

AFAIK, it doesn't appear to care where it is in load order, although I'd presume it has to be after the very low ordered mods. In mine the plugin is in load position 155.

 

Honestly I had no idea there was a "slow walk" and "fast walk" just walk (w) , run (shift-w), and sprint (alt-shift-w).

I'm not above my carrying limit aka not overburdened. I use the wrye bash tweak "Actor: Strength Encumbrance Multiplier: 8" (default is 5), but i don't think that should matter?! ATM i'm at something around 260/325 I'll try again later with empty inventory, but as said earlier, i'm not overburdened.

 

as for slow walk, slow walk is the default walk for players who play with mouse/keyboard. if you play with a gamepad you can actually walk faster plus run and sprint, at least that's what i've heard.

keyboard: slow walk -> run -> sprint

gamepad: slow walk steplessly variable to walk via analog stick -> run -> sprint

Onikobe, have you looked if that mod is 'ticked' in Main menu -> Mods -> Load order? It's obvious but necessary to be excluded.

As it is shown in the loadorder I posted above, the mod is activated or do you mean that the engine might not load it, despite being activated?

Onikobe, yes, you said and shown that it's the last in the order, but from this does not follow that you checked the order in the game engine. Sometimes, for some unclear reason, this engine refuses to 'tick' automatically some installed mods.

All the mods i activated are also shown as activated in the game, I also got rid of everything i was carrying, but still no change, though not really surprising, since my other speeds were unaffected, it's only that the walk speed is super slow (but i'm pretty sure it's the regular walk speed for people playing with keyboard). anyways, the mod just plain out refuses to work for me and i still have not the slightest idea why.

Yes, for PC players, walk is slow, like you were walking hand in hand with a girlfriend or boyfriend in a park. Very casual. I think that's intentional to make the world appear larger than it is. fwiw.

 

PS> it *would be nice if there was a "powerwalk" speed option. My followers even seem to get ticked off when I walk everywhere, but I do so because running often ends up with them teleporting to keep up.
