wfandrews
I have Windows 10 and ever since the last update I have been unable to show Details for Skyrim Legendary in Geoforce Experience. What I get is a message "Unable to retrieve settings. Try again later." and it cannot get an image. I have seven games that Geoforce Experience supports and this is the only game that I am unable to access. I realize this might not be the right venue to ask this question so if someone could point me to where I would have a better chance of finding an answer I would appreciate it. The reason I am hoping for an answer is that ever since the Win. 10 update I have been unable to play Legendary due to textures not loading. I thought that this issue with Geoforce Experience might have something to do with that and if I could solve the one it could solve the other. Grospolina
All of the Skyrim Legendary Edition settings are found in the INI files, which are found in Documents\My Games\Skyrim. Check that they exist there, and that they're not marked as read-only. If there's some problem with them or they don't exist, then rename them (in order to back them up) and then run the Skyrim Launcher to regenerate them. Since your textures are not loading, maybe they're corrupt and Geforce Experience can't parse them. Btw, it's "Geforce" not "Geoforce".
wfandrews
Thank you for your reply Grospolina. The only ini files I have in my Skyrim folder are low, medium, high, very high, and Skyrim_default.ini files, none of which are read only. I will try your suggestion. I assume I would have to launch from Steam after deleting those files. I kind of like Horkers.
wfandrews
Well that was weird. I renamed and moved those files and then launched the game thru Steam. Loaded my clean save I created right after I emerged from the Helgen cave, played for a few seconds, and then quit. When I went to my Skyrim folder it had not generated those files, they just were not there. I then launched the game thru my skse_loader.exe shortcut on my desktop, same thing. Right now the only ini file I have in my Skyrim folder is in Skyrim sub folder which is a SkyrimPrefs.ini file. I did not realize the game would launch and play without those files. wfandrews
I believe I fixed one of my problems. I installed ENBoost and have not had a problem with missing textures since. I really do not know why this fixed that problem, if it is fixed I really will not know for certain until I play with my full mod load. I still cannot access Legendary with GeForce Experience. The more serious problem, in my opinion was the texture problem which hopefully is fixed. If I had to guess installing the d3d9.dll was what did the trick. Those ini files I removed have still not been recreated although I have played for over an hour now testing my game. I guess they are not necessary for the game to function; either that or my game will be completely borked somewhere down the road.
Grospolina
I said Documents\My Games\Skyrim, not the INI files in your main Skyrim folder. The INI files are placed there and don't get replaced even if you reinstall the game or delete the main Skyrim folder. The ones you mentioned are used by the launcher I think. They're not needed by the game itself. You should restore your backed up versions.
wfandrews
Sorry for the confusion. One of the first things I try when my game gets borked after playing a while is validating my master files so I have replaced those files a number of times in the process of trying to fix this problem. I will restore the files as you suggest. Thank you for your replies.
