Measuringbeaver
My New Vegas simply wont start/load when I click play on the launcher/nvseloader. I have just did a clean install of the game since I wanted to change my mod order drastically, so I set up my order and tried to run nvse and I just get a couple black boxes that show up for a few seconds and then nothing. I don't know the issue can someone help me please? ps I've neglected to mention this I have set up my redists and direct x and I am able to start the launcher but not the game its self. dubiousintent
The description "black boxes" sounds like you are getting "command prompts", which indicate Windows thinks the program executables are "command line" instead of GUI. Which in turn suggests you installed the game incorrectly. Likely you overlooked something just because it has been awhile since you started from scratch. Suggest you "clean install" (meaning fully uninstall the game, reboot (to flush out any files still loaded in memory) and then install following the recommendations in the "FNV General Mod Use Advice" wiki article. In particular, do not install to the default location of "C:\Program Files(x86)". (See the "Installing Games on Windows Vista+" article in my signature.) Strongly recommend you install the basic game, run the initial launcher to get your hardware detected, and then apply the "FNV4GB Patcher" and test before proceeding further. (Leave additional plugins out of the mix until you are certain the core basics are functional first.) After that, do not use the launcher but rather just run the patched "FalloutNV.exe" directly, which will now automatically detect and start up NVSE for you. I know you said you had "set up my redists and direct x", but make sure you have installed the DirectX9 files. The game is looking for those specific version files and doesn't know about later versions being compatible. -Dubious-
