Nina28209
Hi guys.Still a beginner in modding and the Creation Kit so would apprechiate some help.I just finished converting a custom high poly head and body model into Fallout 4 including bone weights and textures. I will continue converting some eyes, eyebrows, teeth, hair etc in a few days.I know that this is the Skyrim Forum, but as i got no help in the FO4 Forums or the FO4 modders whatsoever and I was told that the progress is actually similar to the Skyrim one, I was hoping to get some help here.I now want to make my custom head and body into a custom race as I just want the female protagonist to use the custom meshes while the normal npcs should stay as is.I didnt find much information on it anywhere, just a guide onto custom races for Skyrim that i tried to follow plus I tried looking into some esp's of custom races that already exist.Unfortunaly having some problems with it though. While the body now appears when entering "player.setrace MyCustomRace" the head just doesnt. I already added it as a HeadPart, linked it in my race record plus created a PresetEntry for it which I read you should do. Still whenever I enter the command just the Body changes, the head stays vanilla.Does anybody have an idea or does play FO4 too and could take a look at my esp? Would be great. Thanks in advance! maxarturo
The best way to answer this is to: - Find a mod that does exactly what you are asking (for FO4) and follow every step, it is way too much info/data to write it down on a post. * A Good practice for this is to load the mod and with your mod set as "Active" DUPLICATE all the data of that Race, now follow every entry and replace them with your models/nifs. This is a tedious process, and needs first careful research of the race you will "Duplicate" (and then replace the nifs) especially if that race has powers, abilities, spells... etc. Experiment yourself a couple of times in a "test esp" until you get the hang of it. * I've created dozen of "Races" in my current project, and although i'm quite familiar with it i'm still missing a few things here and there sometimes, but with some much needed testing all can be resolved... - Also, all your models/nifs must be "Skeleton" ready before doing a custom race, otherwise CTD. - The first and most basic steps are: 1) Race > uses the correct skeleton and behavior. 2) Armor Addon "Skin Naked" > Points towards the correct Race > "Biped Model" points to your Nifs > "Biped Object" the correct slot. 3) Armor "Skin" > Points towards the correct Race > "Biped Object" the correct slot > "Models" add Armor Addon "Skin Naked". * This is a very basic and plain explanation on the first step on how to create a Race. * You can also take a look at this mod an see how it does it (for Skyrim) with custom head. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/100390 Edited January 28, 2020 by maxarturo
