Starting out with the Temple

The later Temple quests yield powerful artifacts and the only legitimate way of getting the Ebony Mail. Some of the earlier quests are a chore. There are however four quests that require you to lead pilgrims to the shrines you need to visit an it helps to combine them. Because creatures are levelled I recommend you do the Pilgrimage of the Seven Graces at level one.

Ideally before starting join the mages guild for access to their supplies chests.

Collect the items needed at the shrines as offerings before you set off, soul gems are in the mages supply chest as are scrolls of Almsivi and Divine intervention. Muck, dreugh wax, a rising force potion and a potion of cure common disease can all be acquired in the mages guild Balmora. The silver sword is not necessary (they can be found at the shrine). You need some money (100 for the donation and some for silt striders) and ideally a copy of Sarayoni's Sermons. You can pick one up in Ondres Nerano's manor for nothing.

I also suggest if possible that you have the daedric weapon of your choice by reporting the whereabouts of the Vassir-Didanat mine to Dram Bero (see elsewhere for details).

Begin in Ald Ruhn. Leave via the main gate and take the second path on the left (leads to Fort Buckmoth). A well dressed woman is waiting for an escort to Ghostgate shrine. Escort her. You will have to deal with a few cliff-racers but probably nothing else.

Back to Ald Rhun take the silt strider to Maar Gan. Leave by the main gate and keep heading south until you find the next pilgrim. Take him back to Maar Gan and by silt strider to Gnisis. Escort him to Koal Cave, probably dealing with one rat. Into Gnisis to the temple shrine. Should you feel strong enough you may want to do the Lady's Ring quest and get the amulet of shadows (south of Ald Velothi). A scroll of summon Flame Atronach might help. Join the Imperial Legion in Gnisis if you want to.

In Balmora visit Fort Moonmoth getting two miscellaneous quests from Larrius Varo and an Imperial quest from Radd Hard-Heart if you joined the legion. Continue across the foyada. Turn south and keep walking until you see the well-dressed girl on the left (to get a quest). Now take the next path on the right to find the third pilgrim. Escort her to the Fields of Kummu (probably via one cliff-racer). A little further on you can deal with the mating kagouti if you wish to get an amulet of slow falling.

The remaining three shrines are in Vivec. One is at the top of the Palace steps and one in the puzzle canal. (Get the required silver sword from the nearby chest). The last shrine to do is by the temple.

This completes the pilgrimage of seven graces and leaves you with an extended opportunity to levitate. Immediately report to the Vivec temple and get the quest to persude Tanusea Veloth to leave the city. She is in the Arena seating area and as you have Sarayoni's Sermons will agree. Return to the priest for the pilgrimage of silence quest to the Sanctus Shrine in the far north of the country. You can use the levitation to fly high above the cliff racers and it will last long enough. Press the q key and go and make a cup of tea. After you have reached the shrine you probably still have a small amount of levitation time left should you have further quests to do in the area. (Enough to reach the Urshilaku camp for instance).

This can all be done at level 1 on 100 percent difficulty and kills several cliff-racers with one stone. Hope this helps!
