Can't get game to advance, in character creation scene?

Hi

 

I just re-installed Skyrim on my new computer.

 

I'm trying to start a new game.

 

When I get to the point in the character creation process where the first guy is supposed to get axed, the game doesn't advance.

 

I don't mean it freezes, the characters are still moving around etc, I still have sound, I can move my view around but they just stand around and don't ax him.

 

I can run the game if I load in one of my old saves, but I want to start a new character.

 

Anyone know how to make it continue from this point?
