bben46
I thought we covered this yesterday, but here goes again. First, you MUST be running Vista as administrator, running as a user will not work properly. Quoted from the Oblivion Mods FAQ WIKI Using VISTA only: If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game. Then you should reinstall Oblivion into a different directory instead of the default. Installing mods on a Windows Vista system is bit trickier than it is on Windows XP due to Vista's increased security. For best results, it is recommended to install Oblivion to a location other than the default C:\Program Files\ folder. Another location such as C:\Oblivion\ or D:\games\Oblivion\ will work better. This will avoid the file permission problems many users have experienced due to the increased security restrictions Vista places on the Program Files folder. Wiki entry on installing Oblivion in Vista: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Windows_Vista Or: here is an alternative if you do not want to, or cannot reinstall. Vista users may have to disable a security function known as UAC. If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game check to see if UAC is turned on. If so. Look here for instructions on how to turn it off. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vis...-windows-vista/ Please start with a simple mod, not some world changing mod such as OOO or a complex and difficult to work with mod such as Deadly reflex. A simple weapon first. Then when you have that one working, move up to an armor mod, then a house, a quest, a body replacer, and finally, when you have mastered all of those, try the more complex mods. Be sure to test each mod to be sure it works before adding another. After you have more than about 3 mods, you will find you need a utility like OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) not a mod, but a utility so it installs diferently - read the instructions first. Many mods require OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) and will crash your game if it is not installed. Again a utility and not a mod, read the instructions. Then, many mods also require the latest Oblivion patch, Shivering Isles or some other mod to be installed. Always read the read me that should be included with each mod for special instructions. If this doesn't cover your problem, please give us some more information as to what you are having a problem with. Thanks
