Ninqulote
So I read through the sticky DefaultGameCore thread, saw some settings I wanted to change. A few things like starting number of soldiers, $ values for some countries, and making armor give fewer HP but more defense. I made these changes in the .ini file and saved it. But when I run the game, I am getting just the normal values. Nothing I did is changed. What am I missing? Is there some hidden feature to tell the game to use my changes, something not mentioned in that thread?
FMod
The ini file is useless, you need to copy it to binaries/32 folder and run "modpatcher <yourfile>" via console or FAR/TC/WC. Get modpatcher here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/804882-modpatcher/ Edited November 21, 2012 by FMod
Moraelin
Ok, I have the same problem and it's starting to get annoying to not know what I'm doing wrong. I do have a DefaultGameCore.mod in the binaries/win32 folder. I do run the patcher. In fact I downloaded a mod that does that and work, so I guess if I change the values there and run the patcher again, it should work, right? And it does for stuff like how much money does each country pay. Yet if I change the value for some armour or weapon, nothing changes in the game. I even tried starting a new game. Nope. It uses the default values. What am I doing wrong, please? It's driving me nuts, it does,
Starman001
Are you starting the game in Steam OFFLINE Mode ? That is necessary, because the publisher build in some anti-mod actions (for multiplayer safety and to milk people for DLC's ) Everytime you start the game, it downloads the settings from an internet server, overwritting some (not all) of the values you just changed. Switch to offline mode, run modpatcher again, and then it will work, until you start the game next time in online-mode of steam. (edit) Also, for most changes to take effect, you have to start a new campaign. Edited November 25, 2012 by Starman001
Drakous79
Try changing HP bonus of Kevlar armor. Edit DefaultGameCore.mod changing iHPBonus from 1 to 10:Armors=(ABILITIES[0]=eAbility_NONE,...,iType=eItem_ArmorKevlar,iHPBonus=10,...) Save DefaultGameCore.mod, run patcher.bat or from command line modpatcher DefaultGameCore.mod Check date and time of XComGame.exe Run the game, start new game and check health of soldiers. Should be over 10. If it's not working, check if date and time of XComGame.exe is different from the last time you checked. If is different, follow directions to prevent "phone home", run patcher.bat again and check in the game. Also to get armor changes in loaded games, the armor have to be reequiped. At least for added inventory slots.
Moraelin
Ah. I missed that I must be in offline mode, then. I'll try again. Many thanks.
Moraelin
Yep, now it works. Thanks, folks. Funny how one just has to do it right, and suddenly it works ;)
